Saw this on engadget...thought I'd share...

Link is to a story, with video, about SOE incorporating face tracking and sound fonts into EQ2.

Yeah, I saw this. It looks really neat, and I've been kind of suggesting MMO's try to integrate voice with sound fonts for 5 years or so, now, lol. Too bad it's for a product I don't play and don't see myself going back to play.

My hope is that it's being used on EQNext as a testing ground, and that it'll make its way into other, more relevant (to me) games like the upcomingly F2P Vanguard or potentially EQNext.

Off topic I know but.. Is that the name they are still going with? EQNext?

It's barely even been officially announced, Raell. So, no, I doubt that's the final name. They jumped ship on Planetside Next to name it Planetside 2 instead... I doubt they'll do EverQuest 3, but I could see subtitling the EverQuest franchise in some way other than Next since they seem to kind of intend it as a reboot for the original EQ rather than a sequel.

I find that more awesome than I am comfortable admitting. Y'know what wouldn't be awesome? Crappy face capture tech would ruin that experience pretty quick, like the microphone in Binary Domain constantly reading my sniffles as "BLITZ!"

Or picking up gunfire and interpreting it as "****!"
