Foamy, I feel you bro but I think the AH is what you make of it. I really don't go looking for stuff on there to use as I enjoy just going with what I find or what I trade with others. I eventually had to go to the AH to upgrade my bow as I had not seen a quality drop in forever and a day and honestly, stuff was getting hard to kill. It's the only thing I've bought and I'm ok with it. Now I do sell stuff. Some of it sells, some doesn't. I don't worry about getting max price on something as money in this game comes easy I find and plus I don't need tons of it because of my play style.

If you don't want to bother with the AH and need some upgrades? Let me know...I've got tons of crap that I would love to give away. I swear....I am a freakin magnet when it comes to collecting barbarian belts with my DH.

As far as trading equipment goes, is there the same kind of trade window that (i believe) existed in D2? Or is trading not as prevalent with the AH in existence?

You can trade with people by right clicking their portrait.

If it's just me and another person, I just drop the stuff on the ground and let them pick it up. DE and I played for a few last night and I happend to have some stuff I didn't need that were upgrades for him. Show in the chat box by clicking item and holding shift then just drop if they want/need.

I don't know, maybe my luck is just really poor, but in 30+ hours on my monk, I have yet to get a single drop of a rare class specific weapon.

I never had that bad of luck in D2, even at release.

That said, the AH is a nice thing to have available, but it's also been quite nice stockpiling good armor for other classes to give out to you guys. Of course, 90% of it seems to be Wiz gear, so...

Unlocked Inferno about an hour ago. Not looking forward to elites.

Edit - I've already found two champions that I haven't been able to get past. Both had invulnerable minions with differing combinations of teleport, vortex, fast and extra health. :(

Heh, just when I thought I'd gotten Act 1 Inferno trivialized (and Act 2 almost beaten), I find a new combination that totally ripped me a new one.

Vortex, Frozen, Arcane Enchanted, Molten. Kept pulling me in just as the frozen orbs would go off, and the molten/arcane effects would manage to rip through the 60k hp before I was unfrozen.

Molten is one of my most-hated abilities. Makes it very hard to kite even when you do manage to find the room :(

I've been farming the crap out of a mob in act 1 near the old ruins that always drops a lot of gold + 1-2 magics and chances at rares. He doesn't attack back so I can farm with all my GF/MF gear on. Bit over 450k gold now, a maxed blacksmith and an entire tab full of gems. Apparently gem stacks top out at 30, who knew?

Other than that, doesn't seem like I can do much in Inferno yet with 24k hp / dps. Nearly 75 hours of play time and I'm damn near useless again. Hooray! That should make you feel great, Foamy :)

3 levels (45-49) and 10 runs on Caverns of Frost... Still no Chiltara.

The rare spawns for the staff are a pain in the ***!

Took me 8 hours to get the cave to spawn in the Oasis for the Rainbow Potion.

On the plus side, having to do all this grinding ensures plenty of cash for the combine and upgrade.

Every item for the staff took me probably 30 runs total. I thought Izual was the worst, since you have to go through two or three levels of heaven to get to him. Funny story, I actually got Chiltara while going through a cavern randomly on a co-op game my first play through. Imagine that :P

I actually got really lucky and got the shrooms and Izual first run through.

Leorics Shinbone took me 4 or 5 runs, but not bad.

It's just Chiltara and the Rainbow that have been a major PITA.

FYI: If you want to play the auction house, it's actually possible to cancel auctions at any time. They have the AH set to give you the cancel option if there's more than (2 days - 5 minutes) left on the timer, and they use your own system time to make this calculation. So to cancel an auction, first open the auctions tab. Then tab out to windows, and set your system time to three days in the future. Click on "search" then on "auctions" again. All the auctions will now read expired. Now tab out to windows again and change the date back, go back to D3 and you'll be able to cancel all your auctions, because the game reads "expired" as zero and when you move your date three days back, it adds three days to zero and sees that you should now have 24 hours 5 minutes to cancel the auction, as that's the amount of time left before (2 hours - 5 minutes).

Hah.

Got Chiltara half an hour after I posted.

Got the staff, and finished up Nightmare. Now I just need some more cash to get the Nightmare version of the Staff, and maybe do some farming.

Actually got a couple of decent drops tonight- nothing Monkly, but some good DH and Wiz stuff.

Working through Hell now(thanks Lenas). Wow are things much harder. I actually fear running into blue and yellow critters now as I know I'm in for a lot of deaths before I actually kill them.

I think my monk is now my second favorite toon. While still only level 21 on normal, the guy just freakin buzz saws through everything. I want to finish leveling my DH(53 now) but the fun of the human weedeater is just some seriously good times.

Yeah, Hell sucks for some of the elites.

Shielding Plagued Molten Minion elites can kiss my Barbarian butt.

The real frustration is that it's such a huge change between them and the normal mobs. So I get into the habit of being able to rush in and just kick *** and take names, and then suddenly there's an elite pack that will kill me in 2 seconds unless I'm kiting or spreading them out. Hell even some of the elites I can just mow down. I LOVE the illusion ones that spawn 6 copies of themselves. I can basically one shot those and they often pop health orbs. It's just very inconsistent for if I should be worried about an elite or not.

I hear that Inferno is much much worse.

Inferno is just... I don't know. I don't want to talk about it :(

I need a doll to show you guys where I've been getting hurt.

The game will quickly one-up that with Shielding / Invuln. Minion / Molten / Extra Health

So from the dev chat on reddit, it looks like part of the intent of the Patch 1.03 is to lower the gap between melee and range in Inferno and Hell- some changes to AI, Invul/Shielding and Mortar mobs, especially.

Supposed to be making things *not* always 1-hit, such that mitigation is actually important, rather than just not getting hit.

But yeah, I really love my monk. Chews through just about anything- good defense and good offense, especially with a lot of Life on Hit gear and my Life on Hit aura up.

I found the two most awesome options in settings last night- expanded tooltips, and manual skill selection. Really, really helped mow through the rest of Nightmare.

Being able to use the multiple good skills from the same set rather than having to use a couple of crappy filler skills is awesome- especially combining spirit generators for great effect- Lightning for the first-step teleport followed by the AE of Mangle.

Oh, yeah. Elective mode is a must-have. Three of my four hotkeys are defensive.

What are the important stats to look for for Monks? Dex and Vit?

And attack speed, if you can get it.

So I just got my *** handed to me repeatedly by a group of miniature unicorns.

It was freakin' hilarious.

I finally got my Nightmare Staff done, so I've been running Whimseyshire farms.

As a massive Diablo II fan, I had many reasons to not buy this game but I finally did. Battletag, PublicEnemy#1397
