Just finished the book. Done pretty straight forward, takes itself seriously, reads like a biography taken from journals. I enjoyed it, and enjoyed revisiting Lincoln's life with the twist. If you want to wait for the paperback or the library copy, feel free. It is a decent read but not world changing OMG read this now.

Have you read Johannes Cabal the Necromancer?

...I seen these classical re-imaginings in stores, but I don't know what I think of this fad. I haven't read any, but maybe if it gets people to go out and then actually read the original, it has some value.

I picked up Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter on a whim earlier today. And I'm really glad I did. It's fantastic so far! I can't believe this idea hasn't been explored before. I'm really enjoying it, and now I'm tempted to pick up his other book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

And Planet of the Apes. :D

I really like Tim Burton, but when he fails (i.e., those two films), he fails hard.

Checking IMDB to confirm Johnny Depp and Mark Wahlberg didn't make the roster, I discovered Alan Tudyk and Rufus Sewell. My hopes remain aloft :)

It's not directed by Burton; he's only a producer. It's directed by Timur Bekmambetav, helmer of Night Watch (Nochnoy Dozor) and Wanted.

Ooookay. Won AICN tickets to a preview screening last night in Miami.

It was loud, overwrought, and dumb...but fun. It had enough style and energy to it to maintain interest throughout the runtime. It's pretty much exactly what you'd think a movie called ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER would be. It's pretty much the flip side of the AVENGERS coin; it actually has style, but is completely devoid of care for its characters or dialogue. For all his flaws, though, Timur Bekmambetov knows how to stylishly and skillfully stage action sequences. Decidedly cinematic junk food, but sometimes you just want a Big Mac, even over a homemade patty. Pass on the 3D.

I hate that this book was written, and I hate even more that this movie was made. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I'd rather stick with the status quo of having high school students not know who Aberham Lincoln was, than have them think he was a fictional comic book style vampire hunter.
