No where near as campy, but looks a bit more true to the comics.

Hate new Dredd's voice more than I hate GravelMouth Batman. Movie looks entertaining, though.

Looks good. Certainly looks more true to the comics, but...well, I love the original. Not a huge fan of the new guy, but that's probably my love of Stallone talking. I'm sure I'll have the same feelings about the new Robocop as well...though I have a little more doubt about Robocop because I don't think it will be as ultra violent as the original because film makers today don't have the balls they had back in the 80s and early 90s.

Ugh, pass. Looks cheap and direct-to-DVD-y to me, and I kinda wanted to punch Karl Urban for talking like that.

This looks like it has the potential to be a fun ride. Though I will admit to not hating the Stallone movie, too.

As I recall, Dredd spent too much time with his helmet off in the Stallone movie. Dredd doesn't take it off.

Unfortunately not all actors are like Hugo Weaving and being fine with never showing their full face in some movies (ever wonder why so many deep-space helmets have lights on the INSIDE of them, making them completely and unfunctionally stupid?). Just be thankful it wasn't like the live-action "Tick" costume.

I'm not sure that that's an actors choice.

An actor's face is one of their most important tools in conveying emotion. But the director controls the overall vision. They have to make the protagonist relatable.

It takes a TALENTED voice actor to do much with voice alone. (off hand the only character I can remember empathizing with is Darth Vader and then only after his helmet came off)

It is almost 100% the actor's choice, written into their contract or negotiated by their agent.

Wow, IGN gave it an 8. Wish I could trust them.

Dredd is a character study, primarily, one fuelled by violence and action, and we can’t think of a better way to re-introduce this character to cinema audiences.

Also confirmed that Dredd keeps his helmet on the entire movie.

Finally got around to seeing the New Judge Dredd, finally something more honest and true to the source material. While I can appreciate the Stalone comedy version, this one was far more violent, gritty and brutal, the way Mega city should be!

Went and saw it this evening. Really well done, and very consistently high quality in all the various aspects. Acting, imagery, music, action, etc.

Ok, this is on Netflix, if you have not seen it yet, you should. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

*nod* its a good movie, especially when you realize Dredd is NOT supposed to be a good guy - he's what I'd call a true neutral aligned character, its all about the law

I love the Stallone version. I really do. It might not fit the Judge Dredd mold, but I hadn't been exposed to the comics before I saw that. After I did and I still loved the movie...but this. This is what a Dredd movie should have been to start with. It is so awesome that words can't really describe it. I saw it in the theaters with my father and we both agreed that it was better than the original(the same couldn't be said for Total Recall, though we still enjoyed that if for nothing other than the two lead women).

Finally saw this with the wife last night. We enjoyed it. She didn't care much for the slow-mo gore. But otherwise she and I liked it a lot.

On recommendations from here and friends over the weekend I watched this on Netflix yesterday. I thought it was very good. Slow motion was overdone, but I guess I get it since that's the drug they're using or whatever.

Pretty awesome/fun.
