Last night I couldn't sleep because I had nightmares all night about my Grandma. She kept trying to reach for a cigarette (She quit smoking 20 years ago after her quadruple bypass surgery) and I kept stopping her and she kept saying "But I need a cigarette, I'm so lonely."

My Aunt called me this morning. My Grandma is in the hospital in a coma and will most likely die either today or tomorrow.

She is only 3 hours away, but I physically and emotionally cannot go. Not to mention the kids...they are still trying to recover from losing 2 baby brothers.

I feel terribly guilty about this, but my older sister and my husband have both told me that its ok...I have to realize my limitations and she wouldn't realize I was there anyway so no point in making myself sick. My sister said I can say goodbye at the funeral.

My dad is in heaven, my mom is in heaven, my baby boy is in heaven, and now grandma is on her way too.

I am so sad. I miss them all.

I have lost 3 loved ones in less than 6 months....I thank God for my faith, my husband, and our children...I don't think I'd survive this otherwise.

Please pray/think kind thoughts for my Grandmother as she is in transition, and that she goes quickly, peacefully, and painlessly.

Sorry to hear about your losses LadyKate. It won't help right now but I'll issue the standard consolations.

- She's lived a long life and gotten to see great grandchildren, its just time for her to go home.

- Your Grandmother lived 20 years after a Q-Bypass? That is amazing. She she had a lot longer with you than she expected i'm sure.

- We all hit tough patches now and then, and the older you get the more people you lose. It is the circle of life.

- Thank the Lord for all the earthly blessings you do have. You will see your Grandmother again in heaven.

They don't help all that much, but they are worth reflecting on. Consider talking to your pastor for some meditations and guidance.

I'm sorry for your loss LK.

There's a theory in the chinese community that before someone passes away, they visit the ones they love most in a dream as a way of comforting them and letting them know that they were important to the person.
Be comforted with the knowledge that your grandmother loved you very much, and in a way you did get to see her prior to her departure.

Wow, crazy you should say that, because I thought it was just me. I don't tell too many people, but I believe this, and I have experienced it when my dad died, when my mom died, when my son died, and when my grandma died. Maybe someday I can share those stories.

Thanks for your condolences, all. (Deja vu....for the 3rd time...)
I think I may go back to counseling to help deal with some of this grief. Losing my mom, my son, and my grandma in such a short time has me feeling kind of loopy.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

Holy Crap.

I found comfort in that native american prayer the day after my son died.
(Thank you, Aizle, it's very comforting.)

All these "coincidences"....God has been very busy in my life lately.

Just for educational purposes, it was actually written by a Baltimore housewife and florist.
