You guys, watch this. Seriously. It's an hilarious mélange of The X-Files, Twin Peaks, and The Simpsons. Ignore the fact that it's a Disney Channel original cartoon and give it a chance. Its humor is, I would say, more along the lines of a show like Futurama than what its origins would imply. Smart, funny, weird, and layered, it's fantastic.

You can watch the first three episodes on its website ("Tourist Trapped" [the first episode], "The Legend of Gobblewonker," and "Headhunters," which features The Daily Show's John Oliver as Sherlock Holmes and cameos from Larry King[!] and Coolio[!!!]).

By the way, you forgot "Scooby Doo" in your list of inspirations.

No, because this show is good. Therefore Scooby-Doo can't be an inspiration.

Ok, I just paused the first episode about 15 seconds in...

Me: Is...is that Kristen Schaal?
Brain: I think it is!
Me: Holy ****. I'm on this.

Which reminds me:

If you haven't watched Bob's Burgers, go do it now. Schaal is absolutely brilliant.

Edit:

"GAAASP! I'm human sized!"

Everything she says is automatically funny, and I don't know why. :psyduck:

Indeed. Bob's Burgers is one of those bubble shows that I keep hoping will be renewed, primarily due to Schaal and H. Jon Benjamin.

There is really some top-notch animation and art direction going on in this show.

It really does. The animation is gorgeous and fluid, and I could watch the intro on a loop for 20 minutes solid.

Also, the key for the cryptograms in the show and closing credits is a reverse whisper at the end of the opening credits (which says "three letters back").

"Nooooooo! It's a jig of great daaaaaaanger!"

Also, If you pause at one specific point in the opening, there's another message in the same code.

"Not so high and mighty now!"

I think that was my favorite line from that episode. Although, "In retrospect, it seems pretty contrived" is a close second.

My son made me watch this show (he's 3). It's incredibly strange, but indeed it is very awesome. I'm concerned a bit that it won't get enough viewers, as it may be too hard for little kids to follow.

That's true, but I think if this show is granted a life (the creator has it planned out already for three years), I think it'll be on the backs of older/adult fans. Hence the signal boost. :)

I showed this to my eight year old son last night and he proceeded to proclaim it awesome and then watched every show there was online twice. For anyone looking most of them are on Youtube.

The show finally returned on the Disney Channel (finally finally!).

While they've done a piss-poor job of actually airing it, at least they've officially renewed it for another season.

This is good news indeed! I finally got around to seeing if it was on, and I managed to catch a half a dozen episodes on Demand.

Its super awesome.

Also, I <3 Kristen Schaal.

Is there an online way to watch this show, for someone who does not have cable tv?
