Hey, man, this is my home!

Yes, there are a lot of statistically bad things about our state that you can read on paper, but don't pass judgement until you've actually been here. There are some amazing people that call Mississippi home, and there are some things about the culture and community in our state that just don't translate to whatever news articles/fact sheets you get your information from.

I <3 Mississippi.

You're taking two general comments about the state in which you and LK live, and quite frequently complain about, and making them personal.

I don't assume that when someone says something bad about Louisiana that they mean me, personally.

Also, comments about the state as a whole don't negate the fact that there might be awesome things there. They put forth the opinion that the good, as a whole, doesn't outweigh the bad, as a whole.

Tonya Reaves, 24, of the 1500 block of N. Kildare, was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m. Friday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. She was taken to the hospital from the Planned Parenthood clinic at 18 S. Michigan Ave.

An autopsy done Saturday listed the woman’s cause of death to be hemorrhage, with a cervical dilation and evacuation, as well as an intrauterine pregnancy as contributing causes, according to the medical examiner’s office. Her death was ruled an accident.

Calls to local and national Planned Parenthood offices were not returned.

We have real coffee in Louisiana. We don't need that Starbucks crap.

Dunkin Donuts > Starbucks

Actually...my Keurig > everything else.

In my neck of the woods dunkin is awful. Starbucks regular house blend is OK, and Chick Fil A used to be the best. Unfortunately I wont patronize them now. Damned shame because they've got good coffee and great service.

So McDonald's coffee is a decent standby here. I'm a blue mountain coffee guy though. Got hooked when my parents sent me a pound from jamacia.

Tim Horton's > Starbuck's.

(Seriously, most of you poor Americans are deprived. Except if you're in Michigan or Ohio, where they have Tim Horton's.)

Beyond that, McDonald's coffee is now pretty good. Better than Starbuck's, by far.

Dunkin' Donuts can die in a fire.

Krispy Kreme for life, yo.

(Seriously, because south Florida is apparently just warm New York, there aren't any real donuts around here, just this cake-donut ****. Blech.)

Yeah, but I don't generally drink coffee. Neither does Phe anymore; she gave it up a couple of years ago because it makes her jittery and headachey.

I bought her a Keurig machine a couple of months ago, and she makes chai with it. I've got a box of Kahlua coffee, but I've only made a few cups. I like the smell of it more than actually drinking it.

We've got Tim Horton's here in Rhode Island as well, and they'll do in a pinch, but I much prefer Dunkin Donuts. Honey Dew Donuts isn't bad, and I wouldn't kick the Newman's Own they now serve at McDonalds out of bed either. Starbucks, on the other hand, is just terrible, and even manages to mock you while you drink it by being expensive.

I've heard some people don't like Tim Horton's because of their donuts. I don't know if that's true...I don't eat donuts.

Also, I've heard conflicting reports that people who take their coffee black or with milk find Tim Horton's to be good, but not their favorite. The rationale there is Timmy's uses 18% real cream for their coffee, which seriously helps addict those of us who take their coffee with double cream.

I'm definitely not a coffee snob. I don't drink it often, and rarely in summertime. I refuse to pay $5 for a cup of coffee. I usually drink whatever basic blend comes out of the machine at work. If I'm not at work, I might get something from McDonalds, because $1 is a much more reasonable price to pay for a cup of bitter bean juice. I don't go to donut shops, so I can't speak for those.

I used to have a Keurig machine at home, but I never used it, so it went to a family member. I seem to recall it making "good" coffee though.

McD's $1 cup of coffee > Starbuck's $5 cup of coffee, anyway. Even if you could get them at the same price.
