But, given enough time, he could defeat that too!

Batman does defeat time, but that's a curious tale indeed. It's not Bruce Wayne, but Batman that survives. He's pretty neat in DC 1,000,000. But, even THAT Batman, defers to Bruce Wayne.

Batman also defeats time by being 29 years-old for over 70 years.

You shouldn't think of time in publication in terms of time passed. It's a lot like ... say Castle or television.

Can Batman defeat Batman?

The trailer doesn't look awful, but that's how trailers go.

The very first Phantom Menace trailer looked awesome and had me stoked. Ever since then, I tend not to trust trailers.

I've always thought of a single comic as a day. Maybe even less than a day. But at the most, it is a day or two.

So, each issue is a single day in that characters life.

you see, there are three inviolable rules in comic books:
  • Hulk smash
  • Gravity doesn't work on breasts
  • and BATMAN NEVER LOSES.
What we perceive as a defeat is just Batman reverting to a less preferable form of victory. So whether he gets crippled or dies, you can be sure it's just the Dark Knight's way of getting the upper hand.

You cannot stop Batman. Entire planets have tried. When Batman crosses railroad tracks, the warning lights are for the train's safety. The four fundamental interactions in physics are gravity, electromagnetism, weak nuclear force and Batman getting what he wants. In fact, the Large Hadron Collider was a waste of money, because scientists could have just as easily observed a Higgs boson particle every time Batman's balls clap against his knee.

He's totally stealing Spider-Man's schtick.

What's that, you say? You want to see the Dark Knight trailer revamped and made 100x more awesome?

Your wish has been granted, long live Jambi.

We've got tickets for the midnight showing tonight (yay reserved seating and thus no waiting for three hours in line!), but I was wanting to take it in again this weekend, in a proper IMAX theater.

What a fantastic movie.

Remind me to always go into a movie with low expectations, not high. I went into Prometheus with high hopes, and was disappointed. I went into this movie with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

I was disappointed. I could do a write-up, but it's largely a discussion of the film's structure, and I'd rather not spoil anyone.

I'd like to see it again with more reasonable expectations. As it stands right now, I have problems with it. Mainly its lethargy, and its lack of focus (not unrelated). I expected the 'Toy Story 3' of Batman movies, and got something wherein the interest and emotion forgot to show up. The structure was a complete mess, everything felt weirdly unconvincing, and the stakes felt lower than they've ever been before.

In other words, what you're saying is it wasn't Avengers? If that's the case, I suppose I can live with that from a Batman movie.
