Didn't feel like shaving over the four day weekend and I decided to let things go and see if I can manage a beard.

Not fully thickened, but the ground work is there. I have survived the worst of the itching and I don't look like a total mess.

I have had a mustache and goatee for years now, but this is the first time I ever tried a beard.

I think you need to do one of those photo thingies, Foamy. Start with a pic of clean-shaven, then a pic of day two, day three, etc.
That would rock.

I'm back in the gang. Full beard, shaving nothing.

I've had two kids run up to me in the last week and just stare, both in the three to five years range. I give one HoHoHo and they run away giggling. Parents each time have been nearby, first looking worried, then laughing.

I've been sporting the chinstrap look for the past few months. It's a good compromise, given that if I go for the full beard, I get the scraggly Che Guevara look. Still kind of scraggly, but at least it's sort of contained.

I can't grow a beard, either.
Instead, I get long hair on my face. Every time I've let it go to see what it would look like, I end up with a "furry face" consisting of long soft facial hair that refuses to combine efforts into a beardlike effect.
