Anything from throwing a burger on the grill to making a 5 course gourmet meal, how often do you cook?

If you dont cook often or at all, would you if someone prepared all the ingredients and all you had to do was put them together and throw it in the oven?

On average probably a little less than once a day. The wife averages maybe a bit more than once.

I cook every day.

Prepwork is fun for me. I love chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables and herbs.

Cook, no.

Nuke, too often.

Probably not.

8-9 times per week?

Depends on the week. I usually at least twice during the week cook a big meal with leftovers for the next few days, and then do smaller things (breakfast, etc) throughout the rest of the week.

IE, last night I did a bunch of roasted eggplant, pasta, and ~8 cups of sauce. That will last for a combination of lunches and dinners through the next couple of days, mixed in with some other things for variety.

Over a two week period, I cook dinner 13 times. If breakfast is cooked, someone else does it.

I'm actually better at breakfast. It's the easiest one imo. Eggs, oatmeal, bacon... the odd pancake stack.

Anything on the grill I'm good with too, but beyond that I'm not too eager to cook something. I think i'm usually too hungry by the time dinner comes and I rush. If I had stuff prepped before hand I might be better.

Sheesh, probably twice a day, at least. Depends what you mean by cook ... does making toast for breakfast count? Oatmeal? I had oatmeal this morning, cooked hot dogs for the kids and myself for lunch, and will cook dinner tonight. And that's pretty typical, given my (still) unemployed status.

I'm actually toying with the idea of applying to Chopped. They apparently have an amateur competition coming up. I fear ringers, though.

I maybe cook 1-2x a month. Most often it's take out, going out or something I can microwave. Just no reason to cook.

depends on what I eat. Ive had weeks where I cook 9 times a week (dinners each night, and add lunches sat/sun) and there have been weeks when I barely cook at all (leftovers!)

Also depends on what kind of mood I'm in...

I cook about one a week, not counting breakfast, which is usually cereal or pop-tart.

I cook almost every night, maybe 5-6 days a week? And then I'll often do breakfast on the weekends.

The biggest thing for me isn't the prep, it's the dishes. They are never ending. I live in a small cabin with no dishwasher and a tiny kitchen, so it gets cramped and the dishes are a *****. There's also not a lot of cabinet/storage space, so everything needs to be put away and stacked very carefully. But I'm hoping it will just make things that much sweeter when I finally get a nice place with a good sized kitchen and dishwasher.

I found dishes a lot easier living in a small place with no dishwasher. Made me not let things stack up!

Oatmeal totally counts. Even though I microwave mine. Not the instant stuff mind you, it's just 100% rolled oats with water. Add whey, fresh berries and grapes. Perfecto.

You should do the Chopped competition, at the very least it would be a good experience.

This is a very good point, I hate the clean up the most too.

Thirded. I can't tell you how many times I've skipped cooking something just because I didn't feel like washing the mounds of dishes left over from cooking the last meal...drives my husband nuts. I abhor washing dishes!

Once a week, maybe twice. Although I enjoy cooking, my wife is much better at it.

I considered cooking making a meal. Toast and
Microwaving is not "really" cooking.

I cook everyday. My wife has celiac disease, so going out to eat is almost impossible these days. But I have always cooked a lot.

With her limited diet, it sometimes get hard to keep from making the same meals over and over, but I try to keep it interesting. The hardest part is bread, which none of it tastes very good to her. We did find one particular brand of pizza dough mix she likes, so I make that once in a while for her.
