The Glade 4.0

I watched a few episodes of season 4 in the past few weeks. Crazy good. Hermanos, Salud, Face off and everything leading up to it. Just great.

Last nights episode was good, he typically has good pacing and it seems like we're still in the ramping up stage.

This show is certainly one of the best all-'round casted shows I've ever seen. Combined with some amazing directing and camera shots, and it's a clear winner. Even the supporting cast is great.

As my friend put it after Season 4's finale, "There should be an award for best acting with nothing but your face, heavy nose breathing, and a bell."

Walt once again made Skyler out to be the bad guy and him the paragon of virtue (in the scene with Marie). He's tormenting her psychologically, and her friends and family see her as the bad guy and the one torturing her as a selfless hero dealing with her.

You can say that again. I recently re-watched that episode, and I noticed that too. The pure hatred, mixed with triumph, pouring out of that man's eyes was impressive.

Re-watching the seasons again before starting 5 made me appreciate season 4's finale even more. I never noticed that every time Gus said "Look at me, Hector." He never looked at him. Not until the final moment, which, as you said, was full of hatred and triumph (but beginning with feigned sadness and shame).

He's definitely breaking her down piece by piece, and now she's in too deep to do anything about it.

Oh my. This last episode, "Hazard Pay," was magnificent. So many moral quagmires, so many brilliantly conceived character depictions, so many ingenious plot threads being laid so subtly and strongly. It's back, baby!

Hmmm. For some time I've wanted to stir up some politically incorrect trouble at a future halloween by handing out this stuff (I had them as a kid and I turned out fine). Blue Sky candy may make me change my Master Plan to include it. I doubt my wife would let me. She barely tolerates my blue meth shirt.

Whom do you guys think Walt was referring to with the comments about Victor?

Um.. Mike? Victor took liberties by cooking the batch without permission/asking ahead, Mike took liberties by promising money elsewhere.

Jessie has also been taking liberties... Offering ideas to modify the equipment, interrupting Walt and offering his own money to Mike, etc. I could see it going either way. Walt has obviously been manipulating Jessie all season so I'm hesitant to believe the hints that Walt is starting to like him. Especially when he completely blew off Jessie talking about breaking up with the girl, it's obvious he doesn't give a crap.

It seems to me that Walt wanted Jessie to break it off with Andrea because he could see a time when she could influence Jessie to stop making meth with Walt.

Not to mention, one more loose end if Jessie told her what he was doing.

On the other hand, I personally felt Walt was being genuine when he told Jesse that seeing him with Andrea and the kid was "nice." Jesse being stable and staying out of trouble is, on the whole, a serious benefit to Walt, especially when they've got Mike on-board to handle the dirty work.

And that's pre-getting annoyed at Mike when it came time to dole out money.

Similarly, Walt may be a control freak, but I think resenting Jesse for having good input for the equipment is reading way too much into that angle. Again, I figured Walt was genuinely, if grudgingly, proud at the ingenuity Jesse offered.

For the obvious "oh duh," watch Walt's face shift when Jessie and Andrea leave the room and he looks over at Brock.

I think Walt was specifically talking about Mike at the Victor reference. Not only was he taking liberties with the money, but Mike has been acting like he's more in charge than he is (which is what was really the problem with Victor).

Walt cares less about money and more about power and control, and dislikes being the one having neither. That's been evident throughout the series and it's been steadily growing. Mike is now one of the last people challenging his power and control and being very brazen about it. He's totally dead.

At this point, Walt's "business" is nothing without Mike, IMO.

At this point, yes. He needs him. But, just like Gus with Walt, there will come a time when he won't need him (and that time will be forcefully expedited where possible).

So we started the season on Walt's 52nd birthday. How do we think he's going to get to New Mexico buying assault rifles in another year's time? It's obviously going to be a red herring, but Is he going to be on the run from someone (Jessie / Mike) or is he making someone in NM a not-so-friendly visit?

Sorry... Rewatched the scene a few times and confused his fake New Hampshire ID with his New Mexico reality. Done gone full retard. Let me start over...

What was Walt in New Hampshire for, and why is he buying an AR on his return to New Mexico? I'm thinking he gets run out of town by either Jessie or Mike and now he's come to exact some revenge before the cancer gets him.

I don't think Walt's going to actually go to New Hampshire. That's just the fake ID he got. You'll notice he's buying a car with New Hampshire plates in the gun deal; I don't think that's by accident. If he was hiding out in New Hampshire after being driven out of town, he'd *have* a car from there...

He already had the NH car, the guy gave him a new set of keys in the bathroom that he used to open the other car with the AR in it. He took his bag from the NH car and drove off in the other one.
