No Helmet Mod
Sexy Whiterun (there's also Sexy XXXX mods for other towns to give them a different, not necessarily better look).
Lanterns of Skyrim - All In One
Calientes Female Body Mod Big Bottom Edition -CBBE- (base mod needed for many of the appearance mods I use)
Hair packs of TES IV Oblivion
univision Face
RANs HeadMesh Variants
RANs CharGen Morph
Enhanced Character Edit (gives you a new race called "ygNord" which is basically a shorter female Nord)
Victorias High Heel walk Animation plus BBP
Feminine Running and New Dash Animation
SkyHeels v 2_5
The skeleton of female models (not sure if I actually needed this one)

For the "armors" you see here, they actually do have rather decent armor values and serve as good replacements to some armor sets (well, except the high-heels, those have no armor at all). The armor sets are taken from (what I guess is) a Korean MMO called "Tera Online" and are not available through Skyrim Nexus. There's a link here to them: Linky - and probably NSFW due to some of the screenshots. (May need to register to see screenshots).
They still install fine through Nexus Mod Manager though. I'm not certain, but I think the CBBE mod is necessary for this. Most display okay at the Forge, but some do show as invisible but work fine when equipped. These also require more and different ingots than the usual ones needed for a given level (i.e. Lydia's armor in the screenshot needed Dwarven and Silver ingots and require Ebony ingots to improve).

And if you plan on re-rolling, you absolutely need "Alternate Start - Live Another Life". This lets you start the game completely differently with like a dozen different choices, some race-specific. You should read the readme on it before using it though. It skips the entire Helgen sequence and basically puts the main quest on hold until you're ready to pursue it. So no dragons at all until you start it. To start it, you have to find a burned body near the Helgen cave exit. This was very difficult for me because the cave didn't appear on my map. I had to go to YouTube to figure out where it was. It's a cool mod though because you don't have to be thrust into being the Dragon-born unless you want to.

I've downloaded the game from questionable sources because I am a terrible person (and it's going on sale on Steam soon, hopefully), since trying a friend's console version got me sucked in.

SkyRe looks like it'll add a ton of stuff I'd enjoy, particularly because I'm intrigued by the Shadowknight as well. I'll be going the Argonian route, I think. Iksar were my favorite, and SkyRe changed the dark elves too much for my taste. I'm also particularly intrigued by the new beginning mod you have there. I would like to start a TES game without being a prisoner, for once.

So, now that I've gotten that out of the way, how about a completely different topic?

Skyrim Online.

It's a mod folks have been working on to synchronize player avatars into one anothers' worlds, and I would very much like to see it completed. I have always wanted to play a TES game with a friend, and I couldn't really consider it lore-breaking (though likely game-breaking), especially since it's flat-out stated that there used to be a lot more Dragonborn. I'd actually be cool with not being Dovahkiin but rather a mere companion, but, anyway, back to the point: What does the Glade think of this? I'd be interested to see the opinions on the matter.

Edit: And here is a link.

I think the race changes in SkyRe are optional. I don't remember installing them because I didn't like how badly Bretons were nerfed.

Also, I've read about Skyrim Online and wasn't really all that interested. For one, Skyrim is way too easy as it is. Add in another PC and you may as well forget about any kind of challenge and the story isn't strong enough on its own for me to keep playing when there is no challenge(exploring and killing powerful creatures that beat my *** is all I play Skyrim for anymore, and once you start hitting level 50+, there aren't many creatures that can beat your *** without mods and most mods only scale up to level 100 or so which is a shame). I'll wait until TES Online. Possibly. I don't know if I'm going to play it or not.

TES Online looks like it's going the WoW-clone route. If Skyrim Online is ever finished, and it becomes possible to combine with other mods to improve difficulty, I think I'd enjoy it. I agree that taking out the challenge takes out the fun, which is why I think SkyRe sounds right up my alley.

Finally got around to Dawnguard. Well worth the $20. I felt it was way more Elder Scrolls than Skyrim.

There's a real nice mod subscribable on Steam right now that adds spears, halberds, and a few other weapons in the default materials. Nice variety increase.

A lot of the mods seem to make everything easier; there's a lot of cool-looking but overpowered weapons out there. May have to start pushing the difficulty slider up.

I started playing another game of Skyrim last week. I was wandering around in the middle of that huge marsh around the Abandoned Shack when a draugr corpse just randomly fell out of the sky and landed in front of me. I'm not sure if it was dead before or after it hit the ground.

I have no idea how it wound up being part of the Skyrim space program. There weren't any giants or dragons around. And even if there were, there aren't any draugr in that area either. A few ancient Nord ruins, yes, but as far as I know none of them have draugr outside at the entrance.

In Morrowwind there was that guy with the scrolls of Icaran Flight that would plummit out of the sky in front of you near Sedya Neen. I wonder if it's some sort of Easter Egg?

Other weirdness:

I also discovered how ridiculous it can get when you stealth-kill people in highly populated areas like the Bannered Mare.

Me: *kill-cam*
Woman: Don't DO that!
Woman & Man: *stare at corpse*
Woman: Ah! Murder!
Woman & Man: *slow clap*

I'm pretty sure it's just a bug.It seems to happen with a lot of things:

https://www.google.com/#q=skyrim%20"(fell%7Cfalls)%20(out%20of%7Cfrom)%20the%20sky"

I think dragons falling out of the sky is an unrelated bug, because it sometimes happens in Whiterun and other places where dragons can't spawn in the first place.

The mammoth bug is fairly well known. One mammoth spawns inside of another mammoth, and gets launched into deep orbit. They always shoot straight up, but they can get several seconds of air time before they land. If you didn't see it get launched, it can seem as if the mammoth just randomly fell out of the sky.

I don't know how to explain the draugr. Or naked hunters. Or Maven Black-Briar. :psyduck:

What's up with her? It's kind of silly that she stays flagged essential after she isn't but not all that inexplicable.

I was hoping the flying drauger was some allusion to Morrowwind. Somehow, I never see the really cool bugs. The only visually interesting bug I;ve ever seen was a cart getting blasted into some rocks for no apparent reason when I exited Markath once.

Also, anyone messed with this mod?:

warzone

Looks like it could really beef up the civil war. I might try it out.

What's funny is I almost posted that mod the other day when you said you wanted something to make it more difficult.

The mod is fun. It definitely makes certain areas more interesting. And difficult. But that has seems to wan as I continue to level. It's definitely awesome having a lot more mobs around during siege stages of the civil war quest. But the empire and Stormcloak soldiers really start becoming wussies as you hit level 20 and you can take on whole squads at a time without any difficulty.

Where it really does get dangerous is the war zones with necromancers, Forsworn, or Altmeri Dominion. I'm at level 35 and I still tread carefully around them.

What's really kinda screwy is this guy puts war zones near major civil war quest objectives. This really screws with the quest. For example, I was approaching the Stormcloak staging area and there was an Empire vs. Stormcloak battle going on like 200-300 yards away from the objective. The Stormcloaks at the staging area joined in. Empire troops won and the only Stormcloak with me was one of the quest NPC's, who was on his knees. When I cleaned up, it was just me and him beginning the assault. Then mysteriously more Stormcloaks appear to help as he and I are fighting at the objective.

Final verdict: Worth it. It adds flavor. It adds difficulty in some areas. But be prepared for some wonkiness from time to time.

Nothing, really. But if you dig through those google results, there's at least one person who has Maven Black-Briar randomly falling out of the sky in his game.

Diamondeye wrote:

I mostly just see the run-of-the-mills bugs:

I've seen the mammoth rocket bug once.
I've fallen through the world in Whiterun several times.
I get deliveries from naked couriers on a regular basis.
Louis Letrush clones like to hang around the Whiterun stables.
I've killed dragons and gotten no soul.
Conversely, I was skulking around the Silent Moons bandit camp and randomly gained a dragon soul for no reason whatsoever.
I made a bear fall through the ground somehow yesterday.

I also found a naked courier standing around in an inn a couple days ago. I hadn't received any deliveries. He was just hanging out.

One thing interesting I discovered recently involved the mysterious disappearing follower syndrome. I think everyone has had this happen at least once. I used Faendal at first until I could get to Kharjo. Faendal kept disappearing on me when I fast-traveled to Whiterun. I looked up his Object ID and teleported myself to him. He was locked in a Whiterun jail cell.

Apparently the cause of this is trespassing. Diving off the balcony in Dragonsreach and sprinting out the front door before your follower makes it down the stairs can lead to weird pathing. Followers always take the shortest path, even if that means zoning across multiple cells. Instead of taking the stairs, your follower may decide to go through the Jarl's quarters, into the basement, and up the stairs in the kitchen. Since they aren't with you when they enter the Jarl's quarter, they get arrested for trespassing. The same thing can happen if you exit Dragonsreach by way of jumping off the roof.

Which reminds me of a fun exercise. Once you have whirlwind sprint, go out on the Dragonsreach roof (you can reach it from the Jarl's balcony). If you position yourself just right, you can whirlwind sprint off the roof and land safely in the moat out front. Whirlwind sprint is great for getting into places you shouldn't be able to reach normally. You can also dash from the rocks near the Skyforge onto the roof of Jorrvaskr.

Windsprinting across the roofs of Skyrim is the best and it was one of the features I missed sorely from Oblivion. It was awesome to be given an assassination assignment and climb up to a roof and snipe down.

I had no idea followers could get arrested for trespassing. Of the bugs you've listed, the only one I ever saw was the "no dragon soul" one and I just had that for the first time today. I'd love to see the rocket mammoth or the airborna Maven Blackbriar.

My introduction to Dawnguard today was hilarious though.

I fast-travel to whiterun, and get up to answer the phone which rang just as I did that. Mom, calling to say happy b'day.

Spoiler:
Anyhow, I sit down with the phone and holy **** I'm getting attacked at the gates of whiterun. My first thought "holy ****, it's that warzone mod gone amok." TAB to pause, talk to mom.

Get off the phone with mom, run forward to see if everyone's attacking me, or just someone, or what. I get about to the entrance to the smithy and I realize the fight is behind me. I see that imperial sympathizer guy and the guy that glater turned out to be the quest NPC sprinting past me shouting "I'll gut you like a Horker!"

I turn around and see the 2 redguard dudes that are always there fighting, and think maybe whiterun got tired of their loitering, abruptly and violently.

Then I realize it's someone else. I run in there and see "Vampire Thrall" as a target and start swinging. Mobbed by me, Lydiaa, the quest NPC, 2 guards, 2 irate reguards who are no doubt just aching for a fight after hanging out at the whiterun gate looking for the same chick for a year, and that battle-born dude, the Master Vampire drops like a sack of potatoes.

I go through the quest dialogue and start Dawnguard. My disappointment, however, was the lack of a chat option saying "It's not going to be much of a vampire infestation if the first action of every citizen with a weapon at hand is to mob the vampire screaming about gutting them like horkers."

That's absolutely hilarious, although that madness shout recharges way, way too fast for regular play. Still, it does my heart good to see Thalmor get turned into sweetrolls, chickens, and mudcrabs. Which reminds me, if you want your followers (other than J'Zargo who for some reason is the only follower to level with you) to reset to a higher level, you can use Wabbajack to do it. Save the game first, of course. Then wabbajack them. If they turn into an animal, they should reset to your own level when they morph back. If they turn into something else, reload and try again. The cheese bombardment is priceless too.

Has anyone else messed with Armed to the Teeth? I finally got this working. Basically, it's a script base that allows a weapon to still show even when it's not your active weapon. It adds scripts that can be called on to create weightless duplicates of the weapons in your inventory to appear on the character model.

This mod goes along with it and moves shields to the back, and allows dual wielded weapons to show. This one moves your one-hander to your back, parallel with the 2-hander, and moves your dagger to your boot. You can even run it without AttT if you just want back-mounted 1-handers or boot daggers.

They take a little care to get running right because load order is important with them. There's weapons packs for vanilla skyrim weapons and for custom weapons. Unfortunately, the custom weapons pack doesn't seem to work for me right now, but you can still get a custom weapon to appear alongside your vanilla weapons if it's the weapon actually being weilded (not necessarily drawn, just equipped to the main hand). The base AttT mod page has a walkthrough for creating script files for your own weapons if the vanilla or custom weapons packs don't work, either, although it'd be time consuming to do every weapon. Also, the base iron and steel weapons don't seem to respond well to it (i.e. cause crash to desktop if you try to script them) although Skyforge steel and pre-enchanted steel are, to my understanding, ok.

The other problem I ran into is that the dragonbone weapons from Dawnguard and the crossbows aren't in the vanilla pack. The creation kit won't let me load 3 .esm files, either, even with AllowMultipleMasterLoads set to =1, and trying to load the Dawnguard.esm crashes the creation kit. JaySus Swords is also a .esm file, and while it can be loaded with just Skyrim.esm, without also loading AttT's .esm file you don't have access to the scripts you need to create the .esp file.

Fortunately, my other custom weapons are in .esp files. I'm about to test one out, but it did seem to work ok loading the .esp into the creation kit and creating the script for a weapon.

edit: I did get it to work with a custom weapon from a .esp file. The trick appears to be to modify the .esp the weapon itself appears in rather than creating a new .esp file that mods the mod. This was a bit nerve-wracking for me since I'm anything but an expert on the creation kit or modding, but it does seem to be working fine. I'd like to try this on the JaySus swords .esm, but until I can figure a way to load 3 masters..I'm screwed.

Can't say that I have. The only mod of that sort that I use is one that automatically unequips arrows when you unequip your bow.

And now for something completely different.

Goddamn bears!
