So we leave 6 big contractor bags full of used clothes out to donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters last night. Wake up and they are gone. BBBS just rings my doorbell. Whoever took the clothes wasnt them. So someone apparently just took them. They were clearly labeled and there is no garbage pick up so it wasnt a mistake.

**** people.

Wow. That is horrible! :(
We have a lot of curbside pickers around here and a lot of vultures who prey on the freecycle groups....most of these people are women who run their own garage "thrift stores" and try to make a quick buck off of other people's generosity.
That totally sucks, Dash. I'd report it and check your local underground thrift stores and facebook buy/sell/trade groups to see if the stuff pops up...

Scummy, but that certainly isn't the worst thing people resort to when they are trying to get by in a down economy.

In my neighborhood people are on top of the bulk days like whoa. I've never had bulk picked up by the garbage men. Twice people were actually outside waiting for me to get the rest of the stuff out and I helped them put it in their car. One woman asked me to put an old bookshelf on the side of my house so nobody else would take it as she went home to get a bigger car to fit it in. And I'm completely happy they take it if they need it!

It's just amazing how they know I'm getting the stuff out there though. I cant prove it but evidence suggests they pooled their money and piggybacked a surveillance satellite on one of the Russian cosmonaut missions to Mir space station. With it they can track sidewalk bulk activity and plot out the most efficient routes.

However I always assumed they fired up the satellite relays on bulk days. 2nd Wednesday of the month in summer. Not a random Saturday between 11pm and 6am. Well I was wrong, they are on top of that **** and now they have all my old classic wash jeans and tee shirts.

That's why I don't put anything out on the street in my neighborhood. It would either be missing when their truck came around or strewn all over the street because some people have no idea how to behave any more. I have a bunch of old clothes and other household goods that I need to gather, clean, and deliver to Good Will or some other charity, I just haven't had the time in recent months due to health issues, but Tunare willing it will be out of my house before winter sets in! :D

(and if retired hubby doesn't get off of his lazy arse and help with some of it, he may be out of the house before winter sets in as well! :P )

Meanwhile, one of my across the street neighbors have had a pile of stuff out on their front porch waiting to be picked up for more than a month. Nobody's touched any of it whatsoever. 3 garbage bags (full of clothes I think), an old lamp, and a rolled up rug, all labelled for the charity truck to come and get.

Man, around here, you're expected to get off your *** and bring it to the Salvation Army yourself...

That's because we are self-sufficient... Or liability concerns on the charity's part. But let's go with self-sufficient

We have Purple Heart trucks that come pick up at your house, just have to call for an appointment.

Most often I just put it on the curb and it disappears.
