armed to the teeth, eh? Does it only work with weapons? I love the look of some the earlier heavy armors (far more barbaric) rather than the silly looking dragon bone.

It's only for weapons, but I found another mod out there that creates upgraded versions of the more basic armors like steel, leather, hide and the ancient nord stuff. The filename is High_tier_weapons_and_armor.esp. I can't find the actual mod again on nexus right now unfortunately. Even without it though, it shouldn't be out of reach to high the armor cap at 567 with any armor you like, between smithing tricks, skill enchants, and possibly using the Lord stone. I guess something similar could be done with armor, but it's probably be easier to re-texture a higher-tier armor with the earlier appearance than do something like what AttT does. What this mod essentially does is create weightless, valueless copies of weapons after you equip them, that remain on your appearance after you switch to another weapon. They delete themselves when you equip the actual weapon, or try to equip the copy. Doing it with armor would get complex because you'd need to carry both sets of armor, and then it would somehow need to show the appearance of one set but use the stats of another. I don't have the foggiest idea if its feasible or how one would go about setting up the scripts if it was.

It is, but the most amusing part of this video is that it doesn't involve any mods.

Every now and then, a slain NPC's weapon will somehow get "divorced" from the corpse and become a separate lootable. If you play Skyrim without the USP, you'll probably see this from time to time. When it happens with giants, the resulting giant club object can be dragged around. The player can't take it, but as this guy discovered, followers can if command to do so. It becomes an invisible object in their inventory, just like their default equipment. Apparently it has a base damage of 65, so they'll prefer it to any other melee weapon, though they may still use their bows at range.

Heh, that's pretty cool. I never encountered it yet, at least, not with any object I'd have noticed was different.

This mod may come in handy for those wanting a hood, especially on heavy armor characters. My version actually only has the original heavy armor version; looks like he's added more features to the mod. I'm using the entire outfit on my barbarian/ranger right now to level heavy armor with a light armor "look", and the hood with real heavy armor on my SK-style character to get a hooded look rather than a helmet but still have all heavy armor.

Does anybody have any recommendations for mods that up difficulty somewhat? Things are getting to the point where I'm one-shotting just about everything, and what I don't gets cleaned up by my companion's follow-up shot. Warzones basically just makes for one large killing field now, and deadly dragons is too infrequent.

Have you tried simply increasing the difficulty slider? I found that it made a significant difference, especially on a lot of the harder dragons with DD enabled.

That ASIS mod looks cool, but I don't understand exactly what it's talking about in all the various notes underneath so I'm a bit leery about trying it.

updated SK build

I've decided to go a slightly different route with the SK build. I took all but one of the % improvement perks out of block, plus quick reflexes and disarming block, took out the 2 perks in summoner, got rid of benefactor from alchemy, and re-assigned 7 points to illusion and 2 to destruction under Frost.

A couple reasons for this:
1) I don't find myself blocking nearly as much as in Oblivion, and strangly, less with a 1-hander and shield than a 2 hander. I suspect this is due to the one-handed weapons being faster; with a 2-hander I'm blocking to disrupt an attack, then power attack, or bash to do it whereas with the 1-hander I just dish out a quick bash, then hit 2 or 3 times at regular power.
2) I'm finding myself way behind on conjuration, and that it's just really hard to remember to raise corpses. Since I'm going to be using undead and the familiar/flaming familiar but not atronachs, the "conjure farther away" thing doesn't do me much good; I'm better off to get closer to the corpse and use the perks elsewhere since I have the armor and health to do it with, unlike my conjuror.
3) I wanted to mix in a little of the Death Knight to make up for certain aspects of the SK that can't be easily reproduced.
4) I found that while I was falling away from an SK feel, and fighting too much like a 1-handed heavy armor fighter with magic support as opposed to how an SK would actually fight - using fear, DOTs, etc. Some of that simply can't be reproduced since Fire is the only DOT aside from loading up the axe perks and using an axe (which I considered) but on the plus side fire aslo includes Fear- and I discovered that the Illusion Fear perk adds to fire damage!
The thing I discovered in all this is that if you make a broad-based character concept you're going to e waiting a lot of levels to really develop it. You simply won't have the perks, nor the skill levels needed to access the perks if you did, to get everything early on. If I do another very broad-concept class, like a paladin or a more EQ-ish ranger than my initial barbarian-ranger, I'll plan my perks to level 45 or so rather than 81 and see how things look. Right now with the SK I'm at level 31 and I feel like the SK-ishness of the build is just starting to come out.

I had forgotten how much I loved playing a D&D charging barbarian in first person. "Great critical charge" is the single most fun perk in the game (and yes, I play an overpowered backstabber too). Especially once you time the swing to land before you reach your target (you can swing after you've rammed them for the same effect, but it's not nearly as awesome).

i haven't really used that one, mainly because I can never remember to use the "sprint" button. I had sweep for a while too, which should be an outstanding perk, given TES's long history of multiple-opponent combat being so damn hard, but I rarely remembered to make a sideways power attack. I eventually used console commands to re-assign the perk.

Actually, that brings up something else. Multiple opponent combat is a lot easier in Skyrim than the previous four. There's a lot more options for people fighting on your side, and I find it much easier to avoid accidentally hitting them than it was in Oblivion. It also seems like it's a lot easier to outmaneuver multiple opponents than it was in either Oblivion or Morrowind.

There's a way, by the way, to have quite the little private army following you: Get the Dead Thrall spell and the Twin Souls perk and re-animate 2 summoning mages, prferably frost (or even give a couple regular thralls atronach-summoning staves). Get a follower. Give your follower the Sanguine Rose. Get a horse, and a dog.

Final Tally: PC + follower + 2 thralls + 3 summons + horse + dog = 9 (count them, 9!) allies fighting together! I haven't actually tried this though, and I shudder to think of the pathing difficulties in herding such a force around.

Ok.. this morning, on steam, where it shows mods you can subscribe to, there's one called "Johnathan the Man Penetrator". :shock:

Even worse, it sports a picture of some dude in what appears from the front to be Spider-Man bikini underpants, and some sort of Tigger hood/shirt combo-thingy that covers his head, and making a slightly T-rex-like pose. I can only presume he's imitating a Khajit with nothing on, but to what purpose I can't imagine. The title of the mod doesn't fill me with optimism though, and there is no description whatsoever of what the mod actually does....

Someone pass me the brain bleach. I may have to start playing skyrim with my shotgun handy just in case this guy suddenly leaps out of the computer at me or something..

You can advance quests by issuing a console command to set it to the next stage. UESP has a lengthy list of the appropriate commands.

If you're going to go this route, then just download UFO (Ultimate Follower Overhaul). I think it lets you have up to 15 followers. Bring as many as you want, when you want.

It's more for the entertainment value than anything else, but I might just check that one out regardless.

Here's a few that add some sorely-missed lore:

Umbra
Goldbrand
Chrysamere

Ther third one is my favorite. The Chrysamere you get is very nice-looking (if just a tad oversized) for both use and weapon racks. The quest includes getting an optional scabbard for it. The quest itself is also, IMO pretty well-done and lore-friendly, and it's reasonably difficult. I won't spoil it except to say

Spoiler:
don't rely on fire damage to accomplish it, and have a backup save before you get into the meat of it.


Umbra was my favorite sword in Oblivion, partly for it's high damage combined with the easy-peasy soultrapping, partly because of it's incredibly cool look. Katanas are OK, but I've always liked the larger one-handed and two-handed straight, doubled edged swords the best.

Insanity does a Chrysamere as well that some may like better than this one, but his is craftable and I didn't really want to craft artifacts. I had an ebony blade one that gave you an ebony blade model 2-hander you ould craft and enchant yourself for pretty paltry materials called the "edged blade" but I got rid of it partly becuase it seemed unimaginitive; partly because it just offended my to be able to craft the rarest weapons in Tamriel.

edit: whoops, my mistake, looked again. He doesn't make Chrysamere craftable, just upgradeable, but its unenchanted, and I wanted the standard enchantments, some of which can't normally be put on a weapon in Skyrim. Got it confused with that Edged Blade I was talking about.

Pretty funny, and quite truthful. However, people acting like it's somehow a problem that nude mods are popular are hilarious. Really, who cares if someone wants to see naked women while they play? You don't see them actually naked that much anyhow unless you happen to end up looting their armor, and not that many people get all that titilted by naked dead bodies, even the pristine-looking ones in Skyrim.

Then again, the first poster in that thread is Strong Female. She should have probably been honest and just called herself Uptight Hypersensitive Feminist.
