I am not asking for cookie cutter stuff, but it didn't feel like Tamriel to me. Spend 4 games creating a world, cultures, beastiary... Use it is all I'm saying :)

Can't please all of us idiots though

Well, for cockteases and payoffs as it relates to lore, Skyrim is the biggest payoff.

Every single game before it: "Dragons! Dragons! Dragons!" "Dragon this, dragon that!" "Our history is chock full of dragons!" "Akatosh? He's a dragon!" "Emperor has dragon blood!" "Our coins? Dragons on them!" "The Blades' armor? Dragons abound!"

"So.... where's the dragons?"
"Quiet, you!"

Skyrim? More dragons than you can shake a stick at. ;)

And besides, all the Nord lore they built up to that point I had a picture of what Skyrim looked like long before the game was announced. And other than houses where the living quarters were mostly in the basement level, it was spot-on.

Taste is taste. That said, I don't see, relative to the technology of the time of each game, that any of the 5 games was much above any of the others in terms of environment. I definitely find the environment of Skyrim more interesting than that of Oblivion, which was well laid out but unimaginitive. Morrowwind's was more or less comparable to Skyrim's; the main difference is that Skyrim's is more real world, Morrowwinds more bizzare.

As to the races, its skyrim. It should be mostly Nords. Interestingly though, a significant faction is Breton and there really is a good mix of other races. If it were too diverse, the Stormcloaks wouldn't make sense either since their Nord-centric attitude would come across as untenable.

On the bestiary, I agree. At a minimum, goblins and minotaurs would have been fantastic additions. A few of the critters from morrowwind, like the Guar would have been welcome in small numbers. I also would have liked to see more variety of undead, especially incorporeal, and more of the daedra we saw in Oblivion. Variety that is, not in frequency.

Yeah, minotaurs would have been a great fit. I agree.

Heh. Possibly.

Warning: Wall of text not related to Skyrim below.

Though originally when I started EQ I was a hardcore fantasy Ranger fanatic. All other choices in any RPG (video or pencil) were a far, far, far distant option; if I even considered them an option at all. And my ranger of choice: Archer. My goal was to be the most badass archer in the land.

Loaded up Vanilla EQ, made my half-elven ranger (again, there was no pondering of what other class to pick, not even for a half second). Made sure to get the best bow possible for my low level (saved up as much as I could to buy the most expensive I could afford from a vendor). Nocked an arrow, let loose annnnnnnd...... the crushbone orc just laughed it off. I thought I missed so I fired another. Direct hit. And it appeared to take his health down about 0.0007%.

I quickly learned that bows and arrows were nothing more than a nerf gun to get a mob's attention. I was furious. I had to vent. So I found the most popular ranger forum and my very post on it was how upset I was over rangers and archery.

Yep, my very first Glade post was a rant (not under Numbuk's name, he didn't exist yet). But the people there took it well and were polite about it. I took note of it.

So since I had paid for the game, I decided the only way I'd enjoy it was to play a class and race that I had zero expectations over. I once saw a troll run through Faydark and I thought it was simultaneously hilarious and cool. And I read another story about how a troll named Nuglug had engineered a raid on Kaladim, and even killed King Kaladim. I thought that was awesome. So I decided to play a large race. Not just any large race, but the LARGEST race.

Next was class. I wanted to try a spellcaster, since spell particle effects looked cool. When I found out Shaman got SoW earlier than any other class, it was decided.

All that was left was a name. I had no idea what to name an ogre. I liked Nuglug's name, but obviously that was not an option. So after racking my brain for an ogrish name for 10 minutes, I decided to try EQ's random name generator. Nothing looked good until one fateful last click and the name "Numbuk" appeared. I stared at it. Thought about it. It was easy to spell, easy to pronounce, looked somewhat similar to "Nuglug" without it being a carbon copy, that was it.

An Ogre Shaman with the heart of a Ranger was born and the rest is history.

I guess it was the beginning of my shift in tastes away from archer rangers, though that was a slow and gradual process. Today I have more of a love of barbarian-ish classes with giant 2-handers, dual wielding dagger rogues/assassins (daggers only, no other weapons), and to a lesser exent sword and board paladins.

I forgot about ogres. Those are sorely missed, as well.

Next Skyrim DLC to be zombie-focused and coming out around October? Hell. Yes. Please.

And if they made it more of a tongue-in-cheek expansion and turn all the major players in to zombies (like Red Dead Redemption's DLC did) I'll love it even more.

Please, no zombies. I'm zombied out.

I don't mind the zombies, but if they're going to the trouble of making DLC, I'd rather they stay away from joke.tongue in cheek. The Space Core was quite enough, thanks.

Seriously? A DLC focused around an already too-prevalent and increasingly boring monster type? Give me a break.

Well, that's what Dawnguard focused on, why not continue the trend?

For the record, Drauger strike me as a lot more like mummies than zombies.

DLC is supposed to expand the world, not give you more of the same crap. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce Ogres or Trolls, or any other monster type you guys were talking about previously.

That would be fantastic, but I'm certainly not going to complain if they go with zombies any more than I did about vampires. Additional content that keeps the game's replay value up is awesome no matter what it is.

What I'd really like to see is a lot of the unfilled, inaccessible regions that are in the game data used. There's suppsoedly large ares of Hammerfell and Cyrodil that can't be accessed but can be seen by looking over the mountains using the right techniques, plus those gates you can't pass at Skyrim's borders.
