The brilliance of this episode was that it absolutely got you cheering for them, even though they are committing this criminal act in order to continue to commit more criminal acts. When they are celebrating their success, you are celebrating with them.

Then the kid gets killed and it brings into sharp relief exactly the type of people we're cheering for.

Yup, that was definitely a mind blowing moment, and really developing for the "new guy" on the team as well. He always seemed so nice and eager, and then all of a sudden... "OH ****!"

I figured Todd was doomed from the start. Right after Mike gave the whole speech about "These guys are ghosts. You don't look at them. You do not speak to them unless spoken to..." And then Todd immediately piped up to them about the nanny cam and then Walt asked his name.

Aegnor: Yeah I think that there is going to be a whole lot of that this season. Vince Gilligan really wants people to see that Walt *IS* the bad guy and definitely wants people at some point to stop cheering for him (if they haven't already). For me, I can't say where I'm at. So I figured, "Why try? I'll just enjoy the ride."

Anyone else think that the dongle that Walt put on the back of Hank's computer was a little too conspicuous? Especially since his office and desk are very open with a few rows of chairs in front. But, I suppose in reality most folks going into his office aren't computer supernerds and wouldn't know any better (their expertise lie elsewhere).

While I would agree, I also know that people almost NEVER look at the back of their PC, so he's probably OK. I was more surprised that he planted the bug in the picture, immediately thinking that if hank ever finds it, he'll know EXACTLY who put it there.

That, and they're not wiped for fingerprints. But I am going to guess that's not going to be a plot point.

As for the dongle, I wasn't talking about Hank but the bored people who are sitting in front of his desk that have the dongle in their line of sight, since the back of his PC is exposed to the entire room (and it's set up for briefings).

Shooed Phe off long enough to watch this most recent episode (she can have her Game of Thrones :D).

Ho-lee ****.

Great foreshadowing with the whole speech by Mike earlier. "There are two kinds of robberies. Ones who get away with it, and ones who leave witnesses."

Alignment chart, spoilered for size. The characters definitely can't be categorized this narrowly, but it's relatively accurate for the current season. I also think I would switch Jesse and Skylar.

Also, I really like the concept behind this one. (Walt character arc spoilers)

Well, if I ever had any doubts that Mike was a dead man walking (I didn't have many), they've been washed away in this episode.

Walt will never tolerate anyone exerting any control over him (and now his empire). Plus Mike has now shown that he doesn't think much of the partnership and equal shares.

He's deader than a door nail.

Jesse on the other hand, is continuing his upward morality climb. The whole scene with Jesse's revelation and Walt's whistling was quite telling. Jesse may just end up being the hero of the series.

I felt so bad for Jesse at dinner.

They're really pushing the 'child of divorcing parents' angle with Jesse. So many different facets to this show. So much <3.

Here's a fun fact: the song Walt was whistling during the last episode was 'Lily of the Valley' by Queen.

/\ I haven't had a chance to watch the episode yet, but I...I love you, Vince Gilligan.

Was such a perfect moment when he was whistling it, too.

Great writer. Can't wait to see what he does after this series. He better get a free lifetime pass to have whatever wants greenlit, to be greenlit. As well as a free pass to punch anyone in the face who disagrees with any of his casting choices (the mere thought that we almost didn't get Cranston is intolerable).

Yeah, this show would not have worked without him. He IS both Mr. White and Heisenberg.

I also hope Cranston gets to write his own ticket from now on.

Spoiler:
Yeah, we knew it was coming. Sad to see such a good character go, but it had to happen.

I was only slightly let down that Walt still wasn't quite pushed over the edge enough. I was sooo expecting after the "Let me die in peace" comment that there was going to be a retort of "No." or "You don't get to order me around." and then another bang.

Ah well. Still, great episode and another memorable character can take his place in history.

Yeah, they went really subdued on that one. I guess Mike warrants a moment of silence.

Huh. The crack dealer in S1E5 is Sanchez from the Closer.

Yes, I just started watching this.

I won't see it until I get back from Seattle, Wednesday night. Guaranteed I'll have something to say then.

Trying not to think about it, as I don't want to be reminded that it'll be so long until another episode.
