My Dad has just put together a 5.1 system. He has a blu ray player. Any recommendations on good 5.1 audio and/or movie tracks to give it a good workout and show off all its woozits?

Thinking a mix of FX, subwoofer workout and soaring music. Doesnt have to be one thing I suppose.

Ta!

I don't have anything specific to suggest.

Someone's idea of the top 40 blu-ray must-haves...

Watch Event Horizon with the sound turned up. Surround makes that movie a hundred times more creepy. :D

Whenever I upgrade part of my home theater system, I test it with the lobby scene from The Matrix.

I always use 'One Winged Angel' and 'Battle in the Forgotten City' from the FFVII:AC soundtrack.

Matrix lobby scene (sprinkler scene with chaingun also pretty great in surround)
gladiator war scene
Surprising one - Finding nemo, fast forward to the part where dora (the girl) taps on the glass of the fish tank. The bass can shake your glasses off their shelves.
Star wars ep2 - asteroid chase scene
fight club - plane crash scene
