So I thought buying a wireless adapter for $100 was a bit of a ripoff. So instead I bought a router for $40, installed the DD-WRT firmware, set it up to be a client that connects to my main router, and put the client router downstairs by my XBox360 and plugged my XBox into that client router.

Works like a charm, and I saved myself $60.

Here's the instructions I used, if anyone is curious...

Good luck. I hope that firmware is more stable than it was a year or so ago.

I used it to build a wireless bridge and it was.. terrible. Drop outs, latency, etc...

Keep us posted with how well it works...

I've been using DD-WRT for the last couple years. I have yet to have to cycle that router. I came close to bricking it getting it set up, but that's beside the point.

In any case, I bought a used (or maybe refurb?) 360 adapter for like $49. No issues to date.

Still seems to be working fine. Watched some stuff on Netflix via the XBox last night and it worked great with no issues.

Just an update that it still seems to be working fine. I played CoD4 online and had no issues, and had a good connection.
