Wasn't sure if this belonged in the Mass Effect 3 thread, so /necro...

Finally beat ME2 and I can easily say it was one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had. I absolutely love this series and I can't wait to dive right into ME3 and get to this EPIC story's conclusion.

Seemed to make the right choices as all of my squadmates made it. Save for doing Legion's mission post Collector attack on the Normandy...This seemed to cost me half of the crew including Yeoman Kelly Chambers (sadface) I am contemplating replaying from the attack and going immediately to the Omega relay to save the whole crew along with the squaddies.

Am I the only one who felt sorry for the Collectors when Harbinger relinquished control at the end before the destruction of the base?

Obviously, I did not save the base for Cerberus and I hope this doesn't factor too negatively in ME3.

Can't say enough how much I enjoyed this game and how excited I am to get started on 3.

Loved it all!

This can be done by delaying the mission that causes your crew gets kidnapped by the reapers until you've done everything else. Then fly around until Legion will give you his loyalty mission. (Don't land anywhere until then.) Do the loyalty mission, then go rescue your crew.

ME2 was one of the best games I've ever played. I still haven't played ME3...I'm afraid to after what i've heard about the endings.

I had already activated Legion and had his loyalty mission on the map before the attack on the Normandy. After the attack, I ONLY did his loyalty mission and still lost half the crew.

Can't quite sort out if I am allowed to do one mission (Legion's loyalty) or none at all before making a beeline for the Omega relay. Thought I was safe doing just his, but they still died anyway.

If you want to feel the weight of all your choices in the endings, then it'll be a bit of a let down.

EDIT for clarity: You spend the entire game gathering war assets, but it's just a bar that determines a couple things, rather than make you feel like you've united the entire **** galaxy.

On the other hand, the endings as individual entities post-Extended Cut are actually very good. 'Sides, it's still fun regardless of the endings (says I).

Foamy, play part 3 with the mindset that the entire thing is the "ending" of the Mass Effect story. Your choices have consequences throughout the entirety of the game. Just because they don't all culminate in the last 20 minutes doesn't mean they didn't happen.

Pretty much this.

Mass Effect 3 has a couple dominant themes, but foremost is friendship. It did an AMAZING job bringing closure to the relationships you've established with your crew throughout all three games. With one exception (excluded here for spoilers), the relationships with your friends are resolved before you reach the ending. If you approach the game with that foremost in mind and the resolution to the reaper plot secondary to that (because you know that's going to happen anyway), you will thoroughly enjoy it.

This doesn't work. If you've done everything else, your crew gets kidnapped right after you do the mission where you get Legion, and if you go do Legion's loyalty mission before rescuing them, you still lose half the crew.

The best way to make this work is to skip either Samara or Jacob's loyalty mission entirely. Then when you do the IFF mission, your crew doesn't get kidnapped immediately and you can do the Legion mission and still save the whole crew. These two characters not being loyal don't affect ME3 at all, and they'll still survive provided you don't tell them to lead anything, or take them on your squad for the last fight.

Talya's advice works just fine. That's how I saved my whole crew.
