Just announced this morning, I'm fairly sure I'm going to be buying one. I always wanted to grab a Lumia 900 because they're gorgeous but my upgrade hasn't been available so I never did :[

How do you know you don't like the OS?

As far as the menu/tiles/desktop (whatever you want to call it), it's completely customizable.

I've played with it on a friend's phone and I wasn't impressed.

Aside from that, I'm already well tied into the Android ecosystem and getting a WP doesn't make sense to me. That's the big reason for me that I don't want anything to do with Windows Phone.

Not that its a *bad* OS, I'm sure it'd work fine once I got used to it and configured it to look not awful.

Also, as a side note, the most ridiculous excuse for not adding an SD slot.

Very few modern smartphones come with external SD Card slots any more. None of the Nexus phones do.

I initially was a tad miffed by this, and avoided them. I liked having the SD Card Slot.

I now realize that I don't miss it at all.

32GB is more than enough storage space on a phone. I have 16GB non-expandable on my phone right now and I've never even come close to my cap.

I don't get it Midgen. The article doesn't really address why they are taking away the option of an SD card.

Since really my PocketPC Phone in 2001 I have kept all my pictures, emails, etc on initially an SD card then transferred it to MicroSD and have been able to transfer my music, pictures, contacts, documents, emails, etc from phone to phone with the ease of swapping a sim card. By removing this option I can no longer switch devices seamlessly.

Well, my experience is similar to Lenas'. I don't miss having that card at all. I also used to keep all of my data on the external card. Now I find it's totally unnecessary. Especially with android. All of my contacts, email (anything related to gmail) is in the google cloud. Pictures, and other data are also backed up automatically as part of my google account (if you enable it). And more and more cloud services have automatic backup features as well. dropbox for example, has a feature that will automatically upload any picture or video you take on your phone to your dropbox cloud. For me, my google music player works just fine for storing my music in the cloud. I can choose to store some of it 'offline' (on the device) for times when I'm not connected to the cloud. None of these things cost any extra (I'm still using the free Dropbox service and it's more than adequate), other than the data plan ( you need to have sufficient capacity on your plan to handle the transfers).

Honestly, I find these things far more convenient than putting them on a external storage card. I migrate my SIM between phones more often than almost anyone as part of my job (sometimes daily), and never have any problems.

No comments on the camera tech? I have a photograboner over that.

The answer they provided is the equivalent of saying, "We got rid of SD cards because some people step on them." The only reason they don't include it is because they don't want to include it.

Storing all your crap on the cloud is nifty if you are always in WiFi range or have unlimited data plans or for that matter always have cell reception everywhere you go (such as the dank basement that is my gym, or the deepest center of my office).

I have been extremely impressed with the camera on my HTC One X so far. Very clear and vibrant pictures. I also LOVE the ability to take still photos while I'm shooting video. I didn't really think I'd use that feature much, but I'm surprised how many times I've already used it in the 2 weeks I've had the phone.

I was waiting hopefully for something to trip my trigger with the new WP's. I guess I'll just get a GS3. /shrug

What were you expecting and why are you disappointed, Vindi? There have only been three WP8 handsets shown, two of which are Lumias. I'm sure there are many more on the way.

You know, that's the thing... I wasn't really expecting anything, I was just hoping something would catch my eye. If there's more to come maybe I'll wait. What, in your estimation, Lenas, should entice me to a WP?

The most enticing thing to me is the largest point of contention for anyone else. I love the user interface and the live tiles. They're what originally got me interested in the platform; I was sick and tired of static icon grids. They've transformed me from someone that had folder upon folder of apps on my iPhone to someone that literally has zero third party apps installed (minus two games) at the time of this post. I understand it isn't for everyone, though.

The OS itself runs great and it's light weight. It's highly responsive even on minimum specs.

I didn't intend for this thread to turn into a WP discussion but I guess it's unavoidable. I mostly wanted to praise the camera tech Nokia is putting into its phones, because it looks pretty amazing.
