In Libya and Egypt

OF course, it's all our fault as usual.

"Of course it is only a small minority of muslims, the majority are embarssed by their behavior..."

My favorite on CNN tonight was H.Clinton stating (paraphrasing) "The US abhors any deliberate provocations against religions (Gee Mrs Clinton perhaps I wonder if you have seen US pop cultural depictions of Christianity?)

The question I have to ask in all seriosness is why do our embassies not defend themselves better/ more forecfully?

Also interesting this movie that has them so riled up has been out for a long while. This smells like the Dannish cartoons, to distract the masses point them at a heritic.

So glad we spent that money helping out the Libyans, great investment.

Apparently one of the dead was a major player in EVE, Vile Rat. He was there doing IT work for the state department.

I expect nothing less than our government to cut all aid to Egypt and Lybia for this act of war. But our President and Congress are spineless. I'm really hoping they prove me wrong here.

So can this be called a "My Little Goat" moment? What's this 2 or 3 so far? We've got Marine FAST teams going in now. Probably followed by a batallion of apologists and a truckload of money.

I'm putting on my black Nike's and my purple Tracksuit. I'm off this planet.

You really believe that these are are sanctioned attacks by the Egyptian and Lybian governments? Should all governments be held responsible for the actions of small radical groups that happen to live there?

Well, the Egyptian president is organizing a larger protest on Friday. So while I won't accuse him of endorsing the violence in Libya, he's not exactly coming across as concerned about the fact that yesterday's protesters scaled the wall, violating our sovereign soil in the process and pitting our diplomats there in potential danger.

In addition, by supporting and encouraging these protests, he's aligning himself with their calls for us yo put in place censorship laws to punish free speakers who say bad stuff about their religion...

Do you really believe whether the government sanctioned it or not really matters? It's their governments' job to control their citizens and prevent them from invading our embassies. If they know citizens plan to protest, they better have military on hand and close by to ensure that protest doesn't cross onto US territory.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it an act of war, but... **** them. **** them all. Animals. Stevens was a good man and working to HELP THEM with their transition. He was a friend to them - an ally.

**** them all. Animals. We'll have riots here, mindless violence, but this targeted violence toward people totally uninvolved in the creation of some insult is illogical and downright sick. The region is sick. I'll go so far as to say the religion is sick. Yes, yes, there's good people out there, but if this sort of behavior is acceptable to this many people, it is a sickness.

**** them all.

Technically, it's probably not an act of war since neither riot was an act of their government. In the case of Libya, government security forces tried to help fight off the rioters, and did take the Ambassador to the hospital, although too late. It's sort of like narcotics smugglers coming in here is not an act of war, even if they are violent and dangerous.

That said, yes Aizle, their governments should be held responsible for the acts of radicals that live there. That's their responsibility as governments. That doesn't mean that we need to invade Egypt or Libya or drop nukes on Benghazi or Cairo, but it does mean they need to take reasonable steps to address the damage done and ensure it does not happen again. If that doesn't happen, we will have to consider doing it for them.

Its sort of like if a bunch of same-sex marriage protestors decided to storm the Canadian embassy because Canada allows same-sex marriage. Canada would be well within reasonable to demand that we make every effort to hold those responsible accountable for their actions and take steps to ensure the security of Canadian diplomats and other interests in the U.S. Canada obviously does not have the capabilities to force a resolution on the U.S. that we do on Egypt or Libya, but countries are not people and are not created equal in that respect. They would just have to use other tools at their disposal.

I'm a proponent of total war in this situation. Carpet bomb, full scale invasion, indiscriminate extermination, and colonization.

We can accomplish the latter three without wasting time, effort, and money on the first one.

I'm still maintaining that it's the Middle East that's violent, not Islam. This **** never happens in Indonesia.

There's a fair amount of truth in this statement.

No of course there isn't. Not at all.

Indonesia does a better job of keeping the violence down than most Middle Eastern countries, but it does happen there too.

I find there to be zero merit to the proportional response. Wipe them out and use their fading memory as an example. We'll have far fewer acts of this sort going forward.
