I hate wearing shoes in the house...but it seems with a dog in the family I need to start. I just got lifted up from the floor...for the second time...after slipping on doggie water drips and falling on my left hip. :(

I'm fine...didn't break anything, thank goodness, but I'm sure I will be bruised in the morning. I am not feeling any back pain though...that's a good thing since I've had lower back pain and severe sciatica for a week. Maybe I just gave myself a chiropractic treatment for free! 8-)

Is your yard fenced in? If so I would say move the food and water outside.

She has a water bowl outside, but we have always fed and watered our dogs in the house as well...it may be time to water her outside from now on though. I can't afford to fall and break something, and don't want to see the worry and concern in my husband's eyes again. I have put him through enough worry on my behalf the past 12 years.

How about Slipper socks? The ones with the treads on them or a nice pair of house shoes.

Slipping on the Birkenstocks when walking through the house, slowing down my pace, and hanging on to every surface I can reach until I get where I'm going. That's the plan and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Thanks guys for your suggestions and well wishes. I'm bruised and sore but I'll survive.

I have slipper socks and house shoes, but with my hot flashes I wear as little as possible at all times! ;)

Oh, while I'm here...

On top of the sciatica and the slip and fall, my doctor informed me on Wednesday that I also have shingles...excruciatingly painful shingles.

Ouch, do what you need to do to get rid of them as quick as possible.

As someone who has a housefull of dogs, I gave up going bear footed long ago. I have been a happy user of "slides" for a while now. I generally wear socks, because my old feet get cold so often. It's definitely NOT a fashion statement :P

Yeah. Hands against the wall, and spread em. Where are you keeping him?

Kidnappers do not usually keep their victims in their buttholes.

Crocs aren't domesticated. They're an abomination against footwear. There are plenty of comfy shoes that don't look like you're a 90 year old retiree in Boca that's just waiting to die.

I have a pair of crocs I wear when I'm in the basement workshop working on guitars. It's not a shoe-free area, and they are a lot more comfortable than regular shoes. I hate the way they look, but since I'm the only one who sees them, I can live with it.

Sorry to hear you are hurting and hope you are feeling better Jasmy.

Anyone who has had chicken pox can get shingles. It is creepy to realize that a virus has permanently altered your genetic code.

I wear crocs when I garden. Just hose 'em off when I am done.

Finally, I was almost painfree last night and today. Still have to use a cane because my left knee wants to buckle under me at the most inopportune times. Already fell once (forgot my cane) and skinned my right knee up real good. :(

I truly hope that none of you ever have to go through this pain.
