Not to tweak you or nothin', Mus, but I want it on record here:

Pack is gonna crush the Seahawks tonight, and Rodgers in particular will be outstanding. Why do I say this? In the pre-game, they showed him on the sideline holding a Gatorade cup up to his ear. People were laughing and smiling, he looks loose. I’m anticipating an epic night.

Forgive me if I just jinxed him …

(I do like Russell Wilson, too, hope he has a good night.)

Wow, Seattle dumps Holmgren and 5 years later gets good. I hope Cleveland can replicate the results.

Holy crap that was insane. I don't think I have ever seen a single team get screwed by the refs so many times in a single quarter.

Wow. This may be the game that ends the ref lockout.

Mother of God.

Worst call I've ever seen in football. Ever.

If you are referring to that last touchdown call, I'm going on record as saying the ref's got it right.

There is no way you can call that an interception. Both players had the ball, and in those cases, it's always awarded to the offense.

There is no such thing as one player having 'more' control of the ball.

I also want to go on record as saying that that was probably the worse officiated games on BOTH sides, in the games history (certainly for any game I can recall).

And lastly, Green Bay gave up 8 sacks in the first half.

The very lastly

GO SEAHAWKS !!

Heh, and I'll bet you said that yesterday, too, right? The hits just keep on coming!

I told my wife that I'm done with football for the season, and that if she catches me watching a game, she is well within her rights to turn off the TV. Just a ridiculous ending.

Although I have to say, it's kind of funny to see Russell Wilson finally get a Hail Mary pass to work, given his history with Wisconsin last year.

OK, so what about the offensive pass interference that was just ignored on that play? And, the horrible roughing the passer call that allowed the drive to continue and negated the pick?

And any other of the dozen or so bad calls that went either way for both teams throughout the entire game...

I'll tell you guys right now, that there is no way you are going to get any sympathy from any Seahawks fan for bad officiating...

Not after the debacle in Superbowl XLI.

The refs involved came to Seattle during training camp the next season and 'informally' apologized to the team.

Midgen, I'm sorry, this is not simultaneous possession.

Spoiler:

Not to mention the blatantly disgusting PI that came before it.

I know, I know. The roughing the passer call was like the thing in baseball where the ump gives the other team a marginal call because he blew one earlier.

Thing is, this just points up everything that I hate about football. Even when the refs are "good," the game is way too subjective. Where was his knee? Was he in the grasp? Was his arm going forward? Where's the ball spotted? Who the **** knows?!

Tate has both hands on the ball at the same time... the rule does not allow for one player to have 'more' possession.

Um, no - whose hand is that with the yellow glove on, on the right? It's Tate's, and Jennings is on the ground already.

Edit: Maybe that's not Tate's hand, now that I look at it. But it's still ridiculous.

Doesn't matter. Got the W.

That said. Worst officiated game so far this year.

Quote:
Rule 8 Section 1 Article 3 Item 5 of the NFL rule book states:

Item 5: Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.

The only part of this that is debatable is the second statement, where it says "if one player gains control first...". This is a judgement call, made under duress, in a pile of bodies. IT IS NOT REVIEWABLE!!

If the call had gone the other way, the Seahawks would have had just as much of a beef.

The hands shouldn't even matter because of the **** pass interference right before Tate jumped. That **** was so blatant.

Midgen, you're off the deep end here. Jennings CLEARLY had possession of the ball initially. It was definitely not simultaneous possession.

Here is a screencap of the first frame of the video on ESPN. Both players hands are on the ball as it arrives. Yes, Jennings pulls it to his body because he has better position, but again, the rule doesn't say anything about 'better' possession.

As you should well know, possession requires more than just hands on the ball. Jennings maintained it throughout the entirety while Tate did not and only had both hands on the ball for maybe less than a second while they were both still in the air.

You can't know that. You can't see both players hands during the scrum.

Here is a photo from the back showing Tate's hands INSIDE of Jennings.

Whatever. It's still bullshit that Tate was even allowed to get to the ball. If he didn't push a player out of his way he never would have touched the damn thing.

In the interview when he was asked about the push he just kept saying, "I don't know what you're talking about." What a lying sack of ****. At least own up to it and admit you got lucky, can't lose the game now.
