Not a moment too soon. I'm thinking my phone call was the last straw. :D

I'm a little surprised. I had heard murmurings that ratings might be up because non-football people might be tuning in to watch the spectacle.

It'll be a gas when the refs blow some high-profile calls almost immediately.

That's not the big issue though. The biggest problems have been the inability of the replacems to control the game, and their incredible inconsistency.

Re: lack of control of football games

What exactly do the real refs do that the replacements did not that lost control of games? How does two offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties affect anything. If both guys are penalized, the penalties offset and nothing happens. Just what is it that the real ones do to maintain control?

They're quicker to stop fights. They're not as intimidated by primadonna WRs begging for PI flags. etc.

They don't let players run off the field before a game is over.

I just got a cute image in my head of referee dogs. We could train them to bark any time they see pass interference and they would run up and down the field next to wide receivers in cute little striped collared shirts and have a little whistle hanging off their collar.
