Normally when people say "I'm into Jazz" or Blues or something I think "Not my thing" or "whatever, pretentious much?" ... depending on who said it and how. But damn if this little girl didnt nail this. The song is fantastic:

She was outstanding.. and the audio mix was terrible.. her vocal was way too low against the music and crowd noise. I would love to hear a good, well produced version of that..

I can't wait to see how her career moves forward.

I don't know what's up with the uploader's choice of image for this song, but:

Dead Heart Bloom, "Flash In a Bottle"

Lyrics:
Spoiler:
Flash in a bottle pass it around,
your sons and daughters will lay it down,
careful to let it not touch the ground
flash in a bottle pass it around.

I left the morning you got the call,
father was breaking down in the hall,
your sister cried like she’d never done before—
flash in a bottle broken and torn.

He was a fighter making the rounds,
taking the slaughter without a sound,
never was angered when they ran him out of town,
flash in a bottle hitting the ground.

She moves her lips as she’s reading the note
he wrote that morn in the words of a poet:
‘I bid you farewell though I know not where I’m going,
like a flash in a bottle left and alone.’

Flash in a bottle don’t let us down,
give us no warning where you are bound,
set like a sun that’s gently laying down,
flash in a bottle— broken but proud.

Wow, simply wow. Amazing voice, presentation, and she's only 13. May she keep her head straight and have a great career, I would buy her stuff happily.

Ringing is in my ear right now.

Saw Static X live on Friday night. Great concert and glad he's still performing. The replacement band is pretty solid, maybe not quite as tight as the prior ones, but still hella fun to see.

This is one of about a dozen that goes through my head from time to time.

One of the better ambient/chillout tracks I've heard.

Have some alt-folk and/or progressive bluegrass:

Deb Talan - Rocks and Water

Sarah Jarosz has a hell of a set of pipes:

(This cover is better than the original, IMHO)

Before anyone asks, it was in "American Beauty".

Huh, neato.. I might have to check this out..

youtube.com description wrote:
This song was inspired by the book "What is the What?" by American writer Dave Eggers. It is about a Sudanese Refugee called Valentino Achak Deng and it is truly one of the most devastating but inspiring books I've ever read. Please read it.
