The Penny Arcade Report got the devs to do a really sweet walkthrough of the mech design process from concept art through animation and texturing.

To really give the sense that the machine has been in and out of battles more than anything else out there, where the paint looks like it’s barely even holding on, while the dirt and grime are practically a part of the Mech.
I'm considering getting into this, and loving the concept of the Founder's Mechs, but the selection is a bit underwhelming to me.
Not sure how they settled on Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult, and Atlas.
I think I'd have gone with Locust, Shadow Hawk, Warhammer, and Battlemaster.

Guess I could just be glad they're not offering up my favorites. This way I'm not tempted to shell out $120 to get 'em all :)

Warhammer would get them sued. It's not currently slated to be included at all. Same with the Battlemaster, I think, but don't quote me on the latter since my knowledge of seen/unseen stuff is all retrospective and coming in after the big controversy, etc.

**** Harmony Gold. Right in the Goddamn Ear.

Wasp, Locust, Phoenix Hawk, Rifleman, Warhammer. I think there may be one or two more in the 3025 book that were problematic, but those were the big ones IIRC.

Unseen
Still includes Phoenix Hawk, Rifleman, Archer, Warhammer, Marauder
Reseen
Includes Locust, Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt, Battlemaster

I'm still not sure why nobody will take on Harmony Gold on the subject, considering that they declined to defend "their" IP against Microsoft Game Studios when MW4 was released.

Oh, see, I figured Microsoft just shrugged and tossed them a trivial bone for licensing.

If that's the case, instead, yeah, I'm as confused as you are.

I've never seen any record of Harmony Gold and Microsoft making an agreement regarding MW4. I've always just figured that Harmony Gold decided they wanted to remain a viable business entity and not be destroyed like they do to businesses smaller than them.

Please do this. This is what is preventing Macross Frontier or any of the other Macross series from coming over

For some reason they like to think they own the rights to EVERYTHING Robotech related... even the original source material, and will try to sue anyone into the ground who tries to bring it over... most companies won't even bother trying because of that

Yeah... but I imagine they could make cash on licensing it across the Pacific...

So my original question stands. They must just hate money.

Harmony Gold has only ever owned the rights to one of the Macross series, and only the American distribution rights for that one, to my understanding.

More importantly, though, who else is playing? Surely somebody is, if we can talk for a page and a half about how shitty Harmony Gold is for Battletech/Mechwarrior fans. We need to play sometime.

Not I, I am still poking around in Star Wars about once a week. I am just about done with the smuggler class quest. Once I am done with him I am going full time Sniper with my Imp.

Though, if they put an Archer in this game, someone let me know. I may come look and see.

Well, frak.
They won't take my Outlook.com address *or* my Gmail.com address :x

edit: nm, they appear to simply not want capitalized letters in your address :psyduck:

This question makes me a little concerned about my beta application:

I played the tabletop game, Battletech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception, and Multiplayer BattleTech: Solaris but that's about it.

2nd edit: Screw it, $30 is a small price to pay to show my support.

Oh, nice. NDA dropped earlier this week.

Anybody have any questions?

How do you gain xp...? I've been in about probably 30 to 40 matches, wins and losses, and have yet to gain 1 xp.

Trial mechs don't gain XP. Once you've saved up to buy your own mech, you'll start earning it when you play in it.

Thanks. I saved my pennies and got an 'owned' Hunchback. I stink pretty bad but it's fun!
