Really? I believe I said "Again my ideal tax policy is the flat tax with no deductions. Make $100, the government gets $10. It's worked for God for over 3500 years" If I were king for four years, that's what I'd put in place.

Obama wanted to make sure California's state constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage stood, so that he could use federal power to support gay marriage. You see, the states clearly can't be trusted to support it themselves, otherwise they wouldn't have constitutional bans that get successfully defender in state courts.

They absolutely do as the second party to the contract. The first party has equal rights regardless of gender, the second party does not.

Men and women are equal in that regard.

Sure they do. You are a man, the argument you just made is a complete abortion, and yet you have every right to it.

In other words, you have nothing to say. Thanks. Can we get to the outright flaming now?

The people who oppose gay marriage out of religious conviction, as in a desire to enforce God's will and/or not sanction sinful behavior are a small minority. They're not what is keeping gay marriage banned. The main gay marriage opposition comes from two groups:

1. People who find gay sex extremely disgusting and want to keep it out of "polite society" so they don't have to personally deal with or think about it. They don't really care if people are having gay sex, what they don't want is to have to live next to Adam and Steve and have to see them being affectionate every day.

2. Religious people who think it will set a precedent that will eventually allow the government to force their churches to marry homosexuals. This isn't a baseless fear either, how much different is it really than laws that force businesses to serve black people? The Boy Scouts barely won their fight to keep atheists out.

Gay marriage will be legal eventually. As the generally older people who find homosexuality disgusting start to die off, the votes to keep it banned will dwindle.

That works in the opposite direction. Someone making $100 million a year can live off $20,000 just like someone making $20,000 does. You could argue that the millions the rich guy is investing must be helping the poor people, but that's only true if the money is invested in the US, and lately, that's not where the rich people are choosing to put it.

I can't imagine why that might be.

Nobody has commented that a thread titled "Honesty" starts with a post full of completely transparent lies and fabrications? Wowzers.

@DFK! Some people are more enamored with words than actions and no one will shift them off that stance.

What lies and fabrications? I'm honestly (no pun intended) curious.

1. There's an appeal to emotion to start the rant: "Look me in the eye and tell me ..."

The author you 'quoted' starts by immediately marginalizing the validity of taxation and government depletion of wealth as secondary to his concerns, before they are even clearly stated.

2. The author presents a false dilemma -- you either vote for Obama or you are a "fag hating fundie."

Not sure we need more than that.

I could probably add to this significantly, but as Khross said, not sure it's needed.

If you really want a line by line list of logical fallacies and fabrications, I can try to find time, but I'm rather busy these days so (while I'm willing to do it) don't hold your breath.
