I know we've discussed SmartGlass (Xbox 360 Interface) in some of the Windows 8 threads.

As of yesterday, it's now available on your Android device.

Interesting that it's not compatible with my Nexus 7, but it is compatible with my Galaxy Nexus.

Apparently they haven't released a device compatibility list yet.

I just installed it on my GNex from Google Play. My Nexus S is also shows as 'Compatible'. None of my android tables (Nexus 7, Transformer Prime, or G-Slate) are compatible. All are running 4.x (min requirement).

A quick Google search (oh Irony how I love thee) finds that it works on the Nexus 7, but has to be sideloaded.

I just successfully side loaded (using dropbox) onto my Nexus 7 using the 'no device check' hacked version from this link.

I like the idea of where SmartGlass will go, but I don't understand how being able to control the XBox from my phone is useful.

Ideally it's supposed to give you extra game or show information while you're playing or watching. Like if you watch Game of Thrones, SmartGlass will show you a map of the world and where all the characters currently are. It has a lot of potential, but it's up to developers to make use of it (surprise).

^ This for now but my true desire is that the Xbox replaces the crappy cable box that Time Warner provided me and takes over as the sole media console in my home. I'd love to use the phone or tablet to control the TV, Blu-Ray Player, Internet and games, or to have games create a game-specific/custom controller that I work through the tablet/phone.
