Usually a brandy works. I think some people put whiskey in.

Never tried brandy but rum is excellent. You don't need a lot, just enough to jazz it a bit.

Never tried Amaretto in egg nog either, but that might be pretty tasty too.

Amaretto is good, as is Brandy, as is Rum. Frangelica was good too.

You want a sweet spirit. Stay away from complex or really strong tasting spirits.

A friend loves Kahlua in hers, but she consumes coffee by the tanker truck full. Her taste buds may not be normal.

Ideally add the brandy to the nog mixture as far in advance as you can as to let it mellow.

I haven't tried brandy, but I much prefer rum to whiskey when in eggnog. Conversely, I, of course, much prefer whiskey to rum when not in eggnog.

Just get this and the alcohol part is already handled. Should be available at any decent liquor store.

I second Aizle (is that a first?) that is some good stuff.

I actually put that in the non-alcoholic eggnog in order to cut it a little. It's also really tasty served in dark chocolate cups.

Just put anything into it. The point is, it's all gonna get you where you need to go!

Forget the eggnog, and just drank! I'm now officially outta Vodka, but I still have almost a full bottle of Courvoisier, and a little Cuervo. No way would I mess those up with nasty eggnog.
