The thing I quoted. I’ve always thought you preached a lot because you have a genuine care to save our souls. But from that quote. You don’t want to save our souls, but want God to. However you can’t accept what we’ve already accepted or denied between ourselves and god and you want your words to somehow alter what we’ve already had, but it’s not your words but gods… Sorry maybe it’s the way you phrased it, but I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Oh and now i have that song "papa dont preach" stuck in my head... I shake my fist in your general direction >.<

This is a perfect example of what I mean when I say I am misunderstood. Never once, Lydiaa, have I said I could save you or anyone. Not once, ever. All I have ever been able to do is point the people here toward God and let Him work. As for accepting, I understand much of what I say will not be well received. That goes with the territory. But I do all this because I genuinely care about the salvation of everyone, even including taking the hits when people say things about me that are not true. If I didn't care, I certainly would not have taken it all this time.

Intention and genuine care is different to could, I never implied that you thought you could.

I wasn't attacking you, I was actually confused... (which happeneds here and there) the idea that god is speaking through you, or would use your words to convince someone else...

I understand... What I mean is, I quote Scripture rather frequently, and that's the only words I say that have any real power to them. Every time I quote a verse or passage from the Bible, it can be like a seed. God can and does work through those seeds to do His will. It's my way of sowing seeds here, with the hope that at some point, God will water what is planted and cause it to grow.

So God does not use my words. However, He does use His own.

Has my sarcasm meter gone off? :)

I hope so, because I can not save anyone. Only God saves people by His grace through faith.

Well, perhaps you just aren't trying hard enough....

Perhaps. ;)

Actually as a side note, I am occasionally frustrated by how pervasive God is in our daily language. Epitaphs such as Jesus, Goddamn, Oh God, God I hate (x), etc. are all so indoctrinated that it's very hard to not use them, even if you don't believe in a God. And I haven't really found a good replacement for them which has a similar weight. (i.e. fairly strong, but not as vulgar as **** or ****)

Are you also bothered by exclaimations such as "Holy Cow?"

Let me clarify a bit. It doesn't bother me at all that others use the epithets I listed or Holy Cow.

However, I don't like being hipocritical, and as I don't believe in God, I've felt like I should not use epithets that are grounded in religion. Not because they are bad or anything, but because they perhaps imply a belief that I don't share. So my frustration is with the fact that I haven't found a suitable alternative, and that it serves as another reminder that I'm not like other folks and don't quite "fit" in with Joe Average American.

I'm not sure that "**** ****" implies in any way that one believes in Christ.

They probably don't.

But these might:

I think you may be overthinking this a tad. On the other hand, I find it rahter odd that Jesus gets used as a swear word but Mohammed and Buddha don't.

Well in the western world Christianity is much more prevalent than either Mohammed and Buddha.

Québecois epithets are amusing, they don't even translate well into Parisian french. The Québecois seemed to take random religious terms and stick exclamation marks on the end to make a new obscenity. The worst exclamatory epithet you can say in Québec is "Tabernac." (Translation in English is roughly "Tabernacle" or "Church"). Similarly, "Callice" (challice), and "Ostie" (Host) can be combined in nice ways. Throw in any random saint's name, and you can turn any French Canadian's face rather red.

More traditional Québecois religious epithets that do translate well into English: Maudite (damned), Criss (Christ).

You can make just about anything you say in Québecois French worse by combining more of those words.

For example:
"Osti-de-St-Siboire-de-Criss-de-Calisse-de-Tabarnac!" After uttering this phrase, you've just started a war with a small town in northern Québec. Be warned.
