One year of AppleCare for a MacBook Pro is included in the purchase price. To extend the coverage to 3 years from the date of purchase you must pay, within the original coverage period, an additional $349.00

I'm not sure what the default coverage from other manufacturers is, but I'd be surprised if, on average, it was longer than a year.

To the point of gathering statistics for Apple products being the same regardless of who supplies the warranty, my questioning of the claim would be focused on the sample size.

My former employer used Apple products for almost all of its faculty positions, and they had to pay to renew the AppleCare ever year.

I can absolutely assure you that I have never had to renew applecare per year as an individual - it may be possible institutions have a different model.

Most manufacturers have a default 1 year warranty. I would have been highly surprised if Apple had had less than a default 1 year.

From what I see, most higher-end notebooks and those targeted at games default to a two year warranty.

Your link is wrong for at least two laptops on its list, which leads me to believe it's wrong for the rest.

All "Asus Ensemble Series" notebooks (including the G75VW-listed on your site) come with 2 year global warranties.

There are certain "cheaper" versions of these laptops made especially for Walmart or Bestbuy that came with 1 year warranty, but those are not standard models.)

The MSI GT70 I just ordered comes with a two year manufacturers warranty. Your link has it erroneously listed as a 1 year warranty.

(H) has always been my particularly favorite disclaimer from their warranty, although (I) tends to be the most problematic, since normal wear and tear tends to abrade that stick into illegibility.

Year is a default for all the brands I deal with is one year for the laptops. Dell Optiplex desktops and some laptops sold to business are usually bundled with the three year Next Business day onsite, but you can adjust that down. Dell has also allows a lot of their customers to extend their warranty beyond three years. I've done warranty work on 5 and six year old laptops.
