Still greatly enjoying the game. Looking forward to more large maps; they'll diversify the builds a bit more so there will be even less purely short range brawler builds (as long as they lock down the user-side map availability tweaking). I'm pretty impressed with PGI's responsiveness to the community. The changes in the proposed consumables after the response by players was great, and the devs looking at ECM is also something I look forward to.

Ooh. I've been nose to the grindstone on grading and then on vacation, so I haven't been paying close attention for the past few weeks. I did see talk about the announcement and immediate uproar in reaction to coolant flush, but nothing since.

I was able to dig up the revision to consumables, but haven't seen anything about an intent to look at ECM -- any details you could summarize or link to?

I will admit, I'm rather frustrated by the current state of ECM, so I'm glad to hear they're looking at it. The power of utilizing guided weapons while within an ECM bubble of your own is really rather aggravating and difficult to counter without ECM on your own side. This is obviously a pretty awful state of affairs for pick-up grouping, and is a pretty unsatisfactory one even for organized groups from a design standpoint.

We are still analyzing data and examining how ECM impacts the game. We understand that some people love it, and some people hate it. That's exactly the polarizing type of content we want! However we believe it's not fully balanced yet, and are looking at ways to address community concerns, while maintaining the integrity of our vision for MWO.

I'd be [even] more worked up about ECM if I was more of a light/medium pilot. Since the most recent net-code revisions and state-rewind I've had little problems with lights while driving my assaults or heavies (most of them try the same old tactics like circle strafing, and pay heavily for it), but there certainly is an imbalance with all the properties a 1.5 ton piece of equipment gives the user, most notably the ssrm disparity. I'm glad they're looking at it, at least.

My only complaint about EMC...it works a little too well. The area that it covers is a bit large. There is no reason six assult mechs should be able to hover around an Atlas and be covered...

New map went in today. Feels alien and it is huge. Only played on it twice, I like it so far.

Mmm. Good to hear. I won't get to play 'till Thursday, looks like. Can't wait, though.

There are other changes as well. I DO NOT like the new throttle control.

Yeah, I saw that in the patch notes. Fortunately, you can turn it off.

The lock arms to torso, on the other hand, I might experiment with.

Anyone else still playing this? They have put out another map, which I really like and there are some new Mech's with more coming.

I've been a bit busy, so I haven't played the latest patch, but yes. Generally speaking, I'm still having fun playing a few matches a week.

Love the Shadow Hawk, it was the first Mech I used in the table top game.

Yeah, the Shadow Hawk is one of the few Unseen that I genuinely miss. The MWO art treatment of the Thunderbolt has made it way sexier than I usually consider it, too. It's really sad how I love the look of a lot of the mechs in video games (MWO in particular) but can't stand the actual tabletop models, which always look chintzy and a lot more humanoid in comparison.

Wolverine was my first, and my best friend played a Shadow Hawk against me.

Good times :)

I believe your hope will be rewarded this month. The Hero Victor (Dragonslayer) is out now, and the CBill Victors should be out later this month.

Holy crap, the Dragon Slayer is a Victor?

Totally did not know that, thank you!

You are very welcome, Shel.

Looks like launch date is set:

46,941,487. That’s how many mechs have been destroyed during the open beta of MechWarrior Online. Never mind the strain that must put on the pilots, what about the guys who have to put them all back together? Let’s hope they get overtime. And it’ll only get worse, because the full 1.0 release of the game has now been set for September 17th. To celebrate, developer Piranha Games have released an infographic showing the havoc being caused by the respective owners of the game’s 1.1 million registered accounts...

Sadly, it's a Victor that can't mount an AC/20, so ... WTFPGI?

No, really ... they decided that the best thing to do with a Victor that had been retro-fitted to mount a Gauss Rifle was to insert a lower arm actuator. So, yeah ... I suppose you've got more crosshair mobility, but you're now stuck with a mech that can't go back to it's roots.
LOT of angry gamers over it, too.

I am trying to remember, there was a Mech that carried what looked to be a hand held PPC, it was in the 80 ton range if I remember right. Anyone know what that is off the top of their head?

Also, even if it won't work as a weapon, I would love to see a Hatchet Man in the game.

And yet again, I'm amazed at how awful the line art for Battletech is compared to video game models.

I mean, that's just a flabbergasting improvement.
