20 bucks for 5 levels and *a* new planet?

/shrug seems a bit skint.

But then, EQ xpacs were 30, and WoW ones were 40. RIFT's was 40 as well.

But look what you got with those.

EQ: New continent, 10 more levels (In some cases, others 5), New race/new class. Raids, and so on.

WoW New Continent with storyline. New Classes/Races, raids (Eventually ;)) and so on.

Rift: 2 new continents with storylines, 4 new callings (classes... sorta)new mobs, raids, dungeons, and 10 more levels.

This almost feels like Ember Isle from RIFT, +5 levels. Which was free.

I will pick it up. I am still on the monthly plan so I will just do the pre-order for ten bucks.

I'm having a hard time committing effort to any mmo lately. I don't know why.

I think it's a little premature to criticize them for what isn't there. They haven't released the full content list yet.

And as Raell pointed out, if you are a subscriber, it's only $9.99 (if you pre-order).

Ten bucks sounds a bit better.

So EQ expansions were more expensive, back when the dollar was worth more.

There's less stuff in the SW:TOR expansion. It also costs less. That sounds perfectly reasonable on the face of it.

$10 (pre-order with an active sub) is perfectly reasonable for me. But I'm a bit of a fanboy, and am still actively playing and having fun with the game.

There were a lot of people complaining about how much they didn't get for nothing when Free to Play launched. I suspect there will be some who have issues with having to pay for the expansion at all..

The Harbinger <Magenta Squadron> on the Republic side. <Dark Magenta Squadron> on the Imperial side.

I have 8 Level 50s now across both factions. Most of them are `fresh`...in full Tionese. My "main" these days is a Rakata/Black Hole geared Shield Vanguard (~26k HPs) named Geenx.

My guild consists mainly of four people. We play two or three evenings a week doing Hard Mode Flashpoints. We've pretty much maxed out what these characters can do without expanding into 8man Operations, which we probably won't do. I think the plan is to switch to some alts and get them geared before the expansion comes out.

BTW, character transfers are coming soon. The tool is in place (the link is on your account page) to copy characters to the PTS as soon as the open it for the next big patch. This is the predecessor to the paid transfer service, which is expected soon after the expansion launches. The speculation is that it will be a paid service on the cartel market.

The expansion with the new planet Makeb officially launches on 14 April. If you pre-ordered in time to get early access, you will get access on 9 April.

The NDA is lifted on the expansion. Dulfy has posted some guides and overviews (spoiler alert!). More guides are coming in the next few days.

This stuff sounds really fun. I see plenty of content to justify the few dollars the expansion cost.

I've been playing this game again, the double xp weekends were enough to intrigue me back. I forgot how much fun I had with it and the universe it's set in.

I look forward to the expansion.

I've been enjoying to all along (since I started this time last year).

I just got my 9th character to level 50. My first Sith Warrior. I did it over the last two weekends with the double XP bonus.

I was kinda dreading it, and was planning on just spacebar skipping the story to get through it as fast as possible.

Once I got started though, I found that once I got a character that suited me and the story the way I wanted to play it, I really enjoyed it.

I still prefer ranged character play style over the melee/saber classes, but the light-side Sith Warrior story was actually much better than I expected.

In a way, I'm kind of sad knowing that i've basically played through all of the stories, and that there probably won't be any more new content this deep and entertaining.

That said, I still enjoy the end game flashpoints, especially having so many character options to play them in. I'm hoping that soon we will have enough regular players in our guild to run some of the Operations content.

Cool. I just hope the seeker droid isn't as painful as the one used for the HK-51 questline. Ugggggghhhhh. Groooooaaaan. 16 seconds to deploy, 25m radius scan, and a LARGE area to cover to find one (of five, and you have to find all five) piece. And if there are other players in the area scanning, and they find it, everyone has 1 minute to get over to it and click before it despawns and is hidden somewhere else. Which means, all the ground you covered will have to be covered again.

I got VERY lucky getting all my pieces, and even then it was a nightmare. I shudder to think what the average player has to go through. Especially when I was with a small group and one guy found a piece but the other guy didn't get there in time. Spent the next hour looking for it again and we still hadn't found it before I had to go.

The rumors are that the seeker droid won't be as painful as the HK hunt.

I haven't done the seeker droid missions, but from what Dulfy.net had to say, I don't think they are as painful.

I started playing Makeb planetary content on my Gunslinger last night and have really been enjoying it. I played for about four hours, not rushing, and exploring quite a bit, and have about 20% of the map exposed, and three of 12 taxis unlocked. This got me about half way to level 52.

I had enough planetary commendations banked to upgrade most of my gear, and didn't have any trouble surviving fights until I stumbled into a Heroic area.

It's been really great up to this point. I'll probably be a bit tired of it by the time I've run my 10th level 50 through it though :p

It's an all outdoor world (so far), much like Balmorra, with a little Correlia thrown in, except much larger.

There are repeatable daily/area missions spread out all over the place. I've only found a couple so far (no Heroic 4's).

No one in my guild is around, so I'm doing solo stuff, and the occasional PUG (ugh).

I'm doing the macrobinoculars and seeker droid missions now.

They are similar to the HK-51 search missions, in that it involved travelling to several planets, but the search area is not random. The map will indicate hotspots...

So far, lots of fun.

I started to do the HK mission then saw that I had to do hard modes in order to finish it. That kinda cheesed me off a bit.

Your characters are still on Ebon Hawk? None of the other gladers still play?

When HK-51 was first accessible, getting a group via groupfinder was no problem. Now it's a pain (everyone has moved on to Makeb).

We have a bunch of guildies that still need HK unlocked. If you were on Harbinger you would be welcome to come along.

Yeah, two flashpoints (not operations) are involved for two pieces. But only one of them needs to be hard-mode.
