There are people in SoCal who do that every day, for 20 or 30 years. My company asked me to do a 45-mile commute, and I said no. At a good time of the day, that trip takes 40 minutes. On a bad day ... with typical traffic (say, leaving the office at 5:30) - 90 minutes, easily. Certainly over an hour, ideally, no less.

On one of my semi-monthly trips down to an office in the same area, one time it took me 2.5 hours to go about 25 miles. Then, I went another 15 miles and hit the West Side LA traffic, and it was another hour. I think the whole trip took me 3.5 hours or something. I was livid by the time I got home. Actually, no, I was livid before I hit the second wave of traffic. I was just numb by the time I got home. All this for a freakin' paint spill where two freeways merged.

10 minute drive to the bus depot, 5 minute wait for the bus, 35 minute bus ride (with transfer).

45-60 min depending on when the train arrives (when I can't telecommute).
In a previous employment incarnation, my commute was 4-8 minutes, and a co-worker had a 4 hour round tripper (the man loved his kids, so he bought a house where everything was great for them, but to pay for it he had to commute to The City).

15-20 minutes. 12 if I go in outside of rush hour.

Drove this morning, since we had the CEO attending an office meeting that I had to show up at more or less on time. Including dropping kids off at school, it was 40 minutes. If I take off the ten minutes for that, it was an even half-hour.

My distance? About 6 miles, on LA surface streets, into the heart of the beast. Freeway is no better at that time, trust me.

45 min to an hour each way, soon to change to ~90 min each way. (Going from 20 miles to 50-ish miles.)

Moving closer isn't much of an option, but at least I'm in a house I can afford on one salary without stretching things too much.

45 mins to an hour depending on how many tractors I get stuck behind and whether I get caught at the train crossing

Longest was a near 2 hour 88 mile trip so adding in a luch break spent napping in the car I covered at least 176 miles a day with 4 to 5 hours in the car, I definately felt more at home in the drivers seat then I did sitting in the house in those days lol

Nope. I'll be going from suburban Philly to northern NJ. I'll already be cutting it close to get my girl without adding the extra time of public transportation. (I worked in DC for 3 years - took the Metro every day. Problems made commutes hell.)

My worst ever was a snow storm not long after I started the PA job. It took 2 hours to get to the traffic light to leave my corporate center, and another 3 to go the rest of the 14 miles. (Stupid idiots abandoning cars IN the left lane instead of off to the side or in a parking lot.)
