Dark - the first time that loaded for me, it took a while, so it was like watching it in slow motion. I knew what was coming, and to watch the kid's face as his world-record attempt goes down was just priceless. Thanks.

That is a popular photoshop, seen it with different dates several times in the last few months. Why do people bother with that stuff?

I'm sure that regulatory hoops will totally be self-manufacturer-friendly.

You are allowed to build your own car out of parts, who's to say you shouldn't be able to create your own parts? As long as the car passes official inspection, there shouldn't be a problem.

Building a car out of parts does have some regulatory issues. Generally in order to get the title you have to have documentation proving any used parts aren't hot. I have no idea what the deal would be if you used all new parts.

Granted its been years since my Dad built one so I could be wrong.

It would probably be cheaper to get a gutted frame and "download" the power train. The amount of metal you'd need for any frame you'd want to get into a wreck with is probably prohibitive. In which case you'd just have to prove your base frame was under salvage title.

Edit -- Did a little research found this article http://www.motherearthnews.com/green-tr ... z2UdyUzTMv

Not about printing cars but it does answer questions about ground up car construction. Maybe we would split posts if we are going to continue.
