Cunning does work for a dagger rogue. But even then, you have to have a very specific build. That may not necessarily be the build I or others wanted.

From what I can see, the PC dexterity patch only applies to shortbows? I am not sure.

I played an archery rogue my first character before the hotfix. Dexterity increased my damage, but it's only half of the damage equation. The only thing the unofficial(official) patch did was increase the attribute modifier for bows, made shortbows use 100% dex instead of the 50/50 split it had before and gave all bows 5 attack to make up for the accuracy discrepency between archery and melee(archery was getting about 7-10% less hits than melee), increased the range for all bows and increased base damage by 10% across the board for all bows.

Also, with leathality, cunning does nothing for accuracy. It replaces str for damage only, you'll still need to boost dex/str for attack so you can actually hit stuff and to meet the str/dex requirements of most weapons and armors to actually use them.

I don't pay attention to the number-crunching. Hell, even Phe manually levels everybody, but I just hit the auto-level button and keep playing.

So I'll just that I named my Mabari war dog "Backup." :D

I want to know how you got your attack that high. I didn't even get it that high dumping all of my points into dex using the duelist stance that increases attack.

Assuming you are using the Dexterity Hotfix for PC, then no, not necessarily. You need at least 20 Strength (I think) for the Tier 7 light armors. Other than that, it depends on which bow you use. Longbows use 50/50 Str and Dex for dmg rolls. Shortbows and Crossbows use Dex exclusively.

However, if you are a rogue, and take the Lethality skill, you can use your Cunning attribute in the place of Strength for damage rolls. Your attack rolls are still based on Str and Dex. But, if you decide to go with Dex/Cun, then your attack rating will not suffer a great deal.

According to Dragon Age: Origins - The Missing Manual:
Quote:
Each point of Dexterity adds +0.5 to Attack with all weapons.
Each point of Dexterity adds +1.0 to Defense.
Each point of Dexterity above 10 adds 0.5 points to Physical Resistance.
Each point of Dexterity adds +0.5 Damage Bonus with Shortbows and Longbows and Daggers.
Each point of Dexterity adds +1.0 Damage Bonus with Crossbows. (and Shortbows with the hotfix)


So if you spent +2 dex at each level, it would be the same as spending +1 str and +1 dex, as far as your attack rating goes.

Also, Bioware has officially released patch 1.02. And while I do see that the Dexterity issue has been fixed for daggers, I see no mention of any of the ranged weapon issues addressed by the hotfix.

If I sell items to the vendor in my camp, will they still be around as I play the game, available to be bought back from him if I ever so choose?

I have some misc items I've been keeping, mostly unique ones that I don't just want to throw at a vendor for 50s never to be seen again. Inventory issues are still hassling me, though. I think after my recent trimming down of my inventory, I arrived at 89/100 inventory. It's a pain to do anything, and I end up missing out on a lot of vendor trash money. I'm beginning to think the game would be better for me if I just ignored Herbalism, Poison-making, Trap-making, and all products related to them. Maybe keep a stack of poultices along for the once-in-a-blue-moon hard fights.

If I could sell stuff to vendors and know I still have access to it if I really need it later, I can clear out a whole lot of stuff from my inventory with peace of mind.

If you're playing on the PC version, you could download the user mod that puts a stash in your camp.

Also, if you get the DLC Warden's Keep, you will have a stash available there, once you complete the questline. There's also some really good items there, and an interesting backstory. But it's completely understandable if you don't want to spend the $7 for it. You may, however, be able to find it through "other" means.

I basically bought Warden's Keep on the 360 just for this reason. Enjoyed the storyline, but bought it for the permanent stash.

I finished last night at about 3AM.

I will be getting this game for PC when I get a new one capable of running it well, but it was certainly a worthwhile PS3 rental.

I initially started as a mage, but changed to a dalish elf rogue after a couple hours in. I'm glad I played the mage sequence, actually, it made a lot fo the game far more meaningful to have seen that opening sequence, but I enjoyed playing the rogue more overall. Ranger specialization is awesome for those sequences when your archer has to fight solo, for the record, although there are a select few places where it does not work.

Now, my ending:
Spoiler:
Queen Anora was on the throne of Feldaren, and appears to be a good queen.

As her boon to me, the Dalish Elves are once again granted their own independant homeland.
On the negative side, King Harrowmont of the dwarves doesn't last long, and is assassinated. The dwarven people end up more divided than ever before. Due to their incivility, Feldaren is considering a new crusade like the one against the elves, centuries earlier...

Loghain was executed by Alistair.

Wynne becomes the chief royal advisor to Queen Anora.

Morgan conceives Alistair's child, and takes off into the wilds, never to be seen again.

Leliana heads west by order of the Chantry, to become the custodian of the Ashes of Andraste. I will miss my poor sweet bard...

Oghren decides to stay on the surface, finding both dwarven ale and dwarven politics less pleasant to deal with, at least now that his beloved Branka is dead.

Sten returns to his people, but has great respect for my Warden, and says he owes her a debt he will repay some day.

Zevran indicates he wants to hang around the wardens from now on as a mascot. Doesn't want to become one ("There are some bodily fluids I will never touch..."), but he wants to help rebuild the Grey Wardens just the same.

On the Grey Wardens, Alistair and my Dalish Elf live happily ever after in the estate of the late Arl Howe, used as a base of operations to rebuild the order of the Grey Wardens. It has a rather large yard for our mabari to run around in.

On Alistair: he was funny, sweet, but occasionally a bit whiney and unambitious. I was on the fence about him until we fought the high dragon in the mountains. One by one, Leliana, Wynne, then myself fell to its constant fireball blasts, and Alistair fought it all alone from about 20% health. When he jumped on its neck and brought it down with a display of acrobatics P.J.'s Legolas would have been envious of, he'd won me over.

Oh, and for the record, since Morgan established children of Grey Wardens carry the darkspawn taint, a good way to rebuild the order involves having lots of babies.

You can make Alistair less of a whiny *****(at times) during his personal quest. By selecting the correct dialogue option after speaking with his sister, he becomes a bit more...ambitious.

Spoiler:
He'll actually want to be king. Normally, if you don't harden his personality with his personal quest and you have him become king, he'll be upset, but will eventually accept it. If you are romancing him and are not a human noble, he breaks up with you. However, if you harden his emotions and are not human, you can still keep the romance and become his consort at the end. Or you can have Anora become queen.

Another interesting thing about hardening his emotions, if you decide to spare Loghain, he will still leave the party, but he won't run away. He'll basically become king at that point and he stops fighting. I'm fairly certain you can keep your romance with him, have Loghain kill the Archdemon and not have to deal with the evilness of Morrigan's offer.

So...with the PC version of Dragon Age, if you use "End Task" on the window that is requestiong the CD-Key/Serial Number during install, the rest of the install proceeds without a hitch, and the game works fine.

Somebody is getting fired.

Holy crap Morrigan is the stupidest ***** I've ever come across. It's like she grows dumber as she levels up. She used to be a great controller. Now, her AI makes her have the burning desire to run to the very heart of any enemy encampment. Generally BEYOND the heart, and piss off even more enemies that aren't aware of her presence.

I can't count the times I've seen Morrigan die only to ask myself "Where the **** did she go?" followed by "WHY THE HELL WAS SHE ALL THE WAY OVER THERE?!"

Yea, I've never had those issues with Morrigan. Especially if you set her Behavior (top right of the tactics screen) to Ranged.

Yes. And all of her scripts either say "If 2 party members are surrounded" or "If three party members are surrounded." Not "If only a few enemies are in line of site then run past them all and seek out an even bigger cache of foes to kamikaze and then train to your party." Which is why it's frustrating. Never happened until the last few levels she gained.

She will literally run forward into the unexplored areas of the dungeon quite a ways (past all of the bad guys my party is currently fighting), open up closed doors, and piss off a whole new set of baddies.

Caleria: Yeah her behaviour has been "ranged" from pretty much the day I started using her (like level 3). I've tried setting it to default, cautious, etc.
