Is anybody following this?

I think it looks pretty sweet.

Thoughts?

I'm not much into zombie type games but this one looks too good to pass up. I'm definitely giving it a shot, but we'll see if I can get through the whole thing.

I'm interested to see how it turns out. I'm not a survival horror fan by any means, but it might be a compelling enough game to attract my interest from outside of the genre.

It appeals, thus far, to me because it appears to be 3rd person shooter, not 1st person. I hate 1st person stuff, for the most part.

Reviews are coming out.

Common themes:
Pretty solid game.
Very pretty.
Not that innovative.

Wow. Hadn't seen all that. The Wired and Gamespot reviews were much less favorable (though still good, 8/10 for the latter).

Also, is the main character's face based on Nikolaj Coster-Waldau?

Well, I beat it.

It's exactly what you'd expect from a mix of Uncharted and The Walking Dead. Very cinematic, great acting, great story. There are some pretty powerful moments. The graphics, especially during the cutscenes, are beautiful. This game is made to be played multiple times, and the campaign is about 10-12 hours. There are four difficulties each with a New Game+ mode, and it's impossible to fully upgrade your weapons or character in a single play through.

Enemies could have used a bit more variety. There are basically three types of infected plus normal bad guy humans. Would have liked to see infected animals, that would have made sense.

Anyone looking to increase their trophy collection with this game is in for a long haul. You get zero during normal play, one for beating the game (per difficulty) and the rest are all collection, maxing stats/weapons, or playing MP.

Overall: 9/10, will be playing again.

Hmm, 10-12 hours? I guess I'll rent it.

It's made to be played multiple times, hence the NG+ on every difficulty, and that was also my normal time play through. I imagine hard or survival modes would take much longer.

What's New Game + (NG+) mode mean?

Restart from the beginning with all of your character and weapon upgrades plus item collections intact. It's impossible* to upgrade everything in a single play.

* I believe

Ah, ok. Cool. Kinda like Borderlands or God of War.

Got it.

Well, they're not technically zombies in the sense that they aren't undead... but yeah, I hear you. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, either. I'll say this, though: I've played all three Uncharted titles and this is the first game from Naughty Dog that I've actually finished. Take that as you will.

Werp. Be careful if you pick this up...looks like there's a major autosave glitch right now (though apparently manually saving works fine):

Manual saving works fine, until one of your autosaves gets glitched. Unfortunately there's no way to stop the autosaves, they happen after pretty much every encounter.

My advice for now is to just not install the update. The only difference I noticed is that the "Now Loading" screen shows a percentage of what's loaded, because it takes forever to get into the game (don't let that worry you, all the loading once in-game is fast. Just takes a couple of minutes to get started, for some reason).

EDIT - Autosave bug is fixed and doesn't require another patch update. It was a statistics server issue.

Edit 2 - Looked at my finished save, completed time on normal difficulty was actually 13h 38m, didn't find all of the collectibles either.

This game is about to give me panic attacks. It's freaking awesome, and so atmospheric.

Got to play this some last night. Not for very long. Extremely atmospheric, but too early to judge the overall content.

Very pretty.

The stealth elements are, as often happens (in my opinion), poorly executed.

Finished this one, can't recommend it highly enough. Absolutely amazing storytelling.

I have to disagree with you on the stealth elements DFK, while they're not very visual (no light meter/etc) they do a good job with audio cues (there is a note that plays when you're about to be seen and increases in intensity), and the "Hearing mechanic" seems to give you just enough information without breaking gameplay. I played through on Hard, and while there were some tough encounters, it made it much more intense, as well as forcing me to flee more often than simply fight, which seems much more apt story-wise. Sneaking by those damn clickers definitely had me on the edge.

Well, again I'm early in.

To me the stealth on this game appears to be, basically, trial and error while you die each time until you memorize the route.

That's not particularly enjoyable. This may change later in the game though, so I'm holding judgment.
