Spoiler:
I just found his post.. Sounds good :) I wonder what the shot right before the credits will be... He does insinuate that one of my predictions for the episode was wrong though :/

Spoiler:
There is another post where he describes what the final shot is. It's in response to a post saying he's fake (something that after looking at his posting history I don't believe is true). I was wondering what they were going to do since no Jinglebell was cast. What he said makes sense.

Wow. Same feeling I had when I read the book.

I really am beginning to wonder if the purpose of the TV series is to kill my curiousity to read future books, though. This episode added two more deviations from the book that obviate currently (as of the end of book 5) dangling plot threads or promising theories.

Or maybe they're just showing you that what you thought were important points are no more than fodder, and you were on the wrong track.

Book Spoiler
Spoiler:
Oh you mean like the fact that Rob left his wife in Riverrun? I just think it adds to my theory that Martin really hates the Starks.

Book Spoiler
Spoiler:

Book 4 (?) Spoiler
Spoiler:
Yup. Furthermore, when Jaime talks about Jeyne in King's Landing, he describes her very differently than Catelyn does, which has lead many to speculate that Jeyne really was pregnant and somebody was foresightful enough to pull a switch before she was caught and sent off to be quietly put out to pasture under close Lannister watch. Guess not, now. I mean, you're going to have a hard time getting around stabbing Talisa in the womb to produce a Robb heir on the show.

Book 5 Spoiler
Spoiler:
And now nothing important can happen on Skavos, the island of cannibals. Because the Umbers are, well, anything but. Such a shame, I was expecting great, exciting (or at least gruesome) things from that.

The rage on the internets today is glorious.

My own stems not from the RW, but that it seems they're writing out (or very much delaying the intro of) a character I was really looking forward to :/

Spoiler:
Where the hell is Coldhands? Argh.

That character is probably not needed until next season (making assumptions about how far they can get with one more episode).

My biggest gripe is just that they could have replaced Sam's stupid scene with Gilly, explaining how he magically knew about the black gate (reading... like a wizard!), instead of having someone show it to them. Meeting him would have been an interesting way to end Sam's part of the episode.

Someone has already made a reaction video compilation.. the tears are delicious

I think maybe TV show viewers understand now how it is in the books.
Spoiler:
It's not caught up to the books, but this is the theme. There is no happy ending in GoT. Nothing ever ends well. There's almost no pay off ever where the hero triumphs.

Kaffis, I think that theory was dead anyway. I remember reading a quote from GRRM that it was simply a mistake. The thing that is lost (which is too bad) is

Spoiler:
that Tywin was behind the Jeyne thing from the beginning, through her family and without her knowledge.

I had the red wedding spoilered for me pretty early on. When I found out, I was ready to break from the story completely. I had to ask a few folks if there was really any protagonist that doesn't get whacked to make it worth continuing to read. A couple have assure me that's the case. I'm nearing the end of book 2 at the moment.

My attitude is this: My free time, up until last month, has been very little. I have a short break for a while, but I'll be grinding through other things very soon and my free time will drop again. I want entertainment to be entertaining and not depressing. When I lose sleep like I did last night, I don't like it. Some can consider it a testimony to how good the books/shows are and I'd agree to some extent. This, however, isn't the kind of "good" I want. If there's never a payoff, I'd rather stop wasting my time. There are other things I have queued up that I know won't give this kind of disappointment.

Am I wasting my time?

That's a good question.

Three of my favorite characters are still alive at the end of the most recent book (though apparently one of them becomes much less cool after this season.)

Well George himself has said that the ending is going to be bittersweet. If you're looking for the Starks to get super powers and end up uniting the world against the Others for a glorious epic finale you might be barking up the wrong tree.

Ghost isn't seen for a while in the book either.
Spoiler:
Jon sent him away, with the instructions to go to Castle Black, once he understood that he was to become a mole in the Wildling army.
