Since we're breaking games out into their own threads, I think this was the title that excited me the most.

The Story:

The Gameplay:

I think that this would be bloody awesome with a tight group of friends. I'm sick of Fantasy MMOs, and this seems to have the flavor I desire.

I'd play it if I could play it on PC. Looks fun. Not buying either console for it, though.

On the other hand, I'd buy a brick from you if you told me it guaranteed a playerbase like those teammates. Calm, topical, communicative, cooperative, and sort of in-character. Everything you'll never get out of a console multiplayer experience, and will probably not find on a PC multiplayer experience, either.

Which is why it'd be super solid if I could get my friends to play with me.

I know nothing about this game but is it next-gen only or will it be released on the 360 and PS3 too?

At this point, looks like they're targeting 2014 for X1/PS4, and possibly PC (but no confirmation yet). Nothing about current platforms, so I would expect not.

Yeah, our embed tags here on the board don't recognize the time stamped share links.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, his embed video starts at 1:37:42 for me. A couple of minutes ahead of what he tried to timestamp it at, but I bet that's a YouTube bug and not our forum.

At this point, I hope this *never* comes out for PC just to spite the whiny ***** that think that PC gaming is the pinnacle of everything holy.

It's okay. I'll just have a sandbox persistent world space sim to console myself.

That, and I'm sure somebody will just take all the cool parts and mod then into Skyrim or something...

Its basically this:

3 years later, and I have recanted my anti-PC bias.

Played the Beta this weekend, and yeah, this game is going to wreck me. :)

Even the limited portion of NY they had open for the Beta felt appropriately huge. The graphics were phenomenal on the new beast I was forced to build a month or so ago. Combat felt weighty, the different guns had different feels, the "hard" mission I did was appropriately hard without busting my balls, gear and mods were fun to deal with, VA was good, and what little bit of the story was available was interesting enough to keep me going.

I usually play a sniper kind of character in these sorts of things, but I didn't find a sniper rifle in the time I played (about 6 hours total). I started out with an M4, an MP-5, and a M9 pistol. Found a couple of different SMGs and a couple of different shotguns. The shotties were nice, not great at range, but if you get in someone's face, it'll wreck their day. I found the most effective way to implement the M4 was to aim low, and let it climb naturally up into the faces of the bad guys. About 4 and a half hours in, I found an M249. More bullets, and more uncontrollable. But also more fun.

Didn't get a chance to get into grouping because A) I like solo play, abd B) Ugh... groups on consoles.

I'll be picking this up when it drops. For PC. ;)

It's decent enough that I figure I'll play it a while. I was surprised at how bullet-spongey the gunplay was for a Tom Clancy's game. Using "marksman rifles" reduces that a bit, but still... 3 bullets or a headshot plus one? While professing to use "real world" guns? Yikes.

But largely, I agree with what you said. The difficulty was high enough to not be boring on solo play (well, the encounters are mostly trivial but that just makes you feel heroic while the missions feel more like a satisfying challenge.), and the hard mission mode seems scaled nicely for a group or really grit your teeth an rock **** to come out solo by the skin of your gritted teeth.

The voice acting and writing was a mixed bag for me. Faye's writing is mostly terrible, which makes me annoyed at her even though her voice acting isn't godawful. The doctor and Rhoades, on the other hand, are fun to listen to.

Well, to be honest, a lot of One Shot, One Kill is hollywood movie bullshit. Especially with the high speed of the M4, yeah, you can empty an entire clip into a dude pretty quick. I learned short, controlled bursts fairly early on.

I soloed the "Rescue the Virologist Chick from MSG" mission on Hard. The Harder enemies, while a bit bullet spongey, can be thought to just be wearing more effective armor or whatever. :) It wasn't overly bad. I felt that yeah, they're tougher, but if I can get most of a slip of .223 into em, they died pretty well.

The challenge was getting that half a clip into a bad guy before they ducked out of the way or their friends shot the hell out of me.

Also, CS grenades pissed me off.... Don't I have a mask I could be wearing that would mitigate that ****? Come on here ;)

Playing with a friend is WAY more fun than soloing everything. And soloing is pretty damn fun too :)
