Didn't say SDK or retail-units, I said dev kits.

What the hell is this?

“Military personnel will be able to take their Xbox One and play their games with them without an issue as long as the game has been ‘activated’ once in the U.S. Your games go with you and play, no issues,” she says.

Where is the *As long as your submarine has a broadband internet connection so it can phone home every 24 hours*.

Lazy, MS. Lazy. As well, based on the information coming out about IP ranges (If your IP is not in a country that is "allowed" for Xbox one, it is not authenticated. I'd say essentially everything she said there was incorrect. Still, I won't hold it against her. It's difficult to understand just how shitty these new policies are to our servicemen and women.

I think we're all glossing over the important points.

Killer Instinct.

Everything I've read digging into it on my day off (stupid 4-day summer work weeks) has gotten me more excited about that game (though it's changed nothing about my reservations with regards to other features of its exclusive console which have lead to hesitance to commit to it). These things have included:

Interviews with producer-level team members
Reviews from folks in the thick of the fighting game community who've had hands on with the demo
The 3 mini-spotlights on Double Helix's website, including the one spotlighting the construction of the custom arcade cabinet they're using to demo it to the public outside of E3
Oh, yeah. The fact that they made an arcade cabinet to tour the country between now and launch

Seriously, guys. Kudos, and way to come out of nowhere and demonstrate a passion for fighting games and the franchise's history and place in the fighting game geography.

I used to hate Sony. I got over it once I remembered I don't have to buy their products anymore. Nowwe are cool again.

I don't think I'll be buying either...but if I was going to buy one, it would be the Xbox One. Simply because of Halo 5. But my brother is planning on getting a Xbox One so I can just use his. PC master race.

While I don't throw words like 'hate' around much for stuff like this, Sony is definitely a corporation I will not give money to voluntarily or knowingly...

So.. yea...

People can spend their money how they wish, but I think there comes a point when the punishment of a company should cease.

Sony messed up big time earlier this gen and they paid dearly for it. They got humbled and now they seem to be making up for it in spades by siding with the customers.

Again, not telling anyone how to spend their money, but I just don't get holding a grudge against a company for so long, especially after they've been pretty thoroughly called out for their practices.

It seems MS is quickly going down the same road, and that's sad. I wonder if the same grudges will be held against them.

Forgiveness is a lost art it seems.

EDIT: To clarify, I apply the above to ALL companies, not just Sony. And there are situations, of course, where gross human rights and legal violations are performed where a company should be severely punished, but I don't think Sony's case is one of them.

Yeah, but I think there's a big difference between a human hurting you on a deep, emotional level, and a company screwing you over. Not trying to rustle anyone jimmies, I just think there comes a point when you deny yourself enjoyment in what a company has to offer by letting old wounds fester.

EDIT: P.S. -- Da fuq?

I actually don't have a problem with losing all your **** if you get banned.

I actually think its a pretty awesome deterrent to shitty behavior if implemented fairly.

Strictly speaking, me either, as long as those with their fingers on the trigger do not start banning for stupid reasons.

Yeah, right. I do have a problem with subjective enforcement of banning over potentially thousands of dollars of game content.

This board has little faith in the professional judiciary at times; you believe that MS will have more even handed, better trained, more reliable guilt finding & appeal systems?

Or ya just willing to take the one in a ten thousand chance it wont be you randomly/erroneously/kneejerkingly banned?

I would expect the situation won't change because of new hardware. Same rules, same "cops", why would you expect them to suddenly lose their ****?

I guess I don't; but I've seen enough instances of cack handed game company justice that I'm leery of it. I guess you think they're broadly ok?

I've never heard of anyone getting banned from Xbox Live that didn't deserve it, aka playing pirated games or cheating online. Unfortunately their current way of handling it can screw over other people because MS bans the console, not the account. Tying bans to an account over a console means they can't just sell the tainted one, buy a new box and continue cheating.

Edit - this is an irrelevant discussion though because getting banned wont take away your access: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/16/banne ... sed-games/

Sorry, in my world an SDK is usually just a software framework, not hardware related.

Major Nelson sez you can plug an Xbox 360 into the Xbox One. That could prove useful.

Can I chain 15 Xbone's together and watch the entire new season of arrested development simultaneously?

Well, yes -- yes, you could. It's just an HDMI input... BRB.

Okay, 15 pre-orders have been placed, simultaneous picture-in-picture of 15 Arrested Development episodes would probably be the most hilarious half hour in existence.
