I've been watching a lot of stand-up on Youtube, and I've realized, that with a few rare exceptions (George Carlin, Robin Williams, Chris Rock, and Louis CK), the American comedians aren't always the ones that keep me laughing the hardest. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or not (Not Canadian culture, either, possibly my Irish parents), but I'm finding that comedy across the pond is generally funnier.
My favorite comedians:
1.
George Carlin (I'm sure he'll never leave this list.)
2.
Russell Peters3.
Dara O'Briain4.
Jimmy CarrThere have been so many others I've found funny: Frankie Boyle, Stephen Fry, Steve Martin, Robin Williams, 80's Eddie Murphy stuff, Johnny Carson (although, he was funnier in a guest interview than in his standup), Bill Cosby, Chris Rock... but some are just a cut above. Guys like Sandler or Romano were never that funny to me...in fact, I can't stand to listen to them. Even Jerry Seinfeld is rarely more than a few chuckles.
Who are your favorites?
