I get that watching Fireworks might not be that interesting as you get older. I mean, I was getting kind of bored of them myself when I lived in California because the kind you could buy were just crappy fountains. But I moved to Idaho and we get all the good **** out here. I could put on a real fireworks show like the ones at Disneyland with the **** I can buy here. Shooting off fireworks got much more fun.

Anyway, I just wanted to come back here and say that every time I see a trailer for this movie, I get a boner.

Fireworks displays are great. What I hate are the street displays that people do here in LA, in all neighborhoods, starting about three weeks ago. I walk out of the drugstore - BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!- they're going off at the intersection. Big ****, too, can't imagine how much money people spend on these things.

I missed this. My love of fireworks relates to the ones I can see.

When I can't see them, I.. don't like it. For the first few years after I got back from Iraq, I could not stand fireworks going off in the background at home; I would jump like an anxious frog and my wife hated leaving me alone. It gradually got better and it doesn't make me jump anymore but I still don't like it.

One night a couple weeks after I got home someone set off a chain of those tiny firecrackers that goes really fast. I woke up out of a sound sleep sure someone had gotten machine-gunned. Closest thing to a flashback I ever had.

Trying to go to sleep last night, every time I started to doze off some <insert expletive here> shot off a fireworks or two...and not those little firecrackers, either. I thought I was being shot at or bombed, they were that loud! It's only going to get worse until the 4th, then will start slowing down over the next few weeks. After what happened Sunday, I don't need any more scares. :(

Review from IGN is out. 7.5.

Quote:
When the Kaiju vs. Jaeger battles work, Pacific Rim is a delight to behold, but those moments are sadly too few and are strung together with a story that would have been best served as a 22-minute Sunday morning animated adventure.

Don't care. Will watch, will love. Sounds like exactly like I wanted and expected.

Dang, 7.5 from IGN? That's like a 0.5 from every other site. Oh well, should still be fun. :)

Also, it's at 81% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Let me repeat...this is a movie about giant robots and giant monsters, and it's at 81% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What I'm expecting from this movie:

GIANT ROBOTS FIGHTING GIANT MONSTERS.

If there's anything else... meh. I'll still get what I want.

OF COURSE its going to be stupid. That's the whole point! Go in, shut your brain off, and make with the **** YEAH GIANT ROBOTS!!!

I see 83%. What scares me is that V/H/S/2 is 84%.

Part of that is Rex Reed, who is just a terrible human being.

Mr. del Toro approaches the material with an almost childlike enthusiasm, as if he simply cannot wait to show you what he learned from anime films and monster movies and science fiction stories. It's the passion for the "geeky" stuff that separates the great filmmakers from the good ones, and that's something you just can't fake. Joe Dante had it. The brilliant Steven Spielberg clearly has it, and so does Guillermo del Toro. That's not to say that Pacific Rim is a brilliant or flawless piece of entertainment, but it's an endlessly raucous and wonderfully entertaining piece of grade-A eye candy from one of the few filmmakers I trust implicitly.

In a nutshell, the movie delivers a ton of wild stuff you've never seen before, but it's nestled in a comfortable old story about heroes with firm jaws and noble intentions. Plus it's weird and a little gross. Also funny.

Pacific Rim was made for people who still remember seeing the wonderfully epic presence of King Kong or Godzilla for the first time and thought "Wow, movies are awesome!" This is what a Transformers movie might be like if anyone actually cared about the Transformers. (I said might.) - See more at: http://www.fearnet.com/news/review/fear ... 4Cg0C.dpuf

Well, that clinches it. Can't wait to see this in spectacle vision at the local googleplex.

Not sure I agree with the Billy Mitchell post. The earth would be doomed if he were in control, simply because of the neck and spine injuries he suffered attempting to perform "mouth love" on the one he loves most: himself.

I have one GIANT complaint about this movie and it is this. This movie will be very hard to watch due to the massive erection you will have during it obscuring your vision. This movie is ****.

I went in expecting Citizen Kane, but instead I got jizz in my pants from the groin throbbing monster/robot action and the lack of intelligent bed talk.

Just got back from seeing this, so good. Since it's an original story rather than a remake of a show there's no baggage or expectation. There was no condensing of story lines down. He did a very good job of fitting the movie into it's time frame. He gave you a decent compelling story with plenty of giant robot punching monster action.

My wife actually didn't like it because she said there was to much robot punching, I liked it for that very reason.

The fight scenes I thought were well done. Someone was complaining about you not being able to see stuff very well, but I didn't find that to be the case at all. The monsters were all awesome and the robot punching was awesome. I have very little to complain about from this movie.
