Definitely one of my favorite types of restaurants.
My first foray into them was about ten years ago when I went on a date with a gal from Brazil who had only been in the country for a month (and she said that was the extent of her English learning). Between my ok knowledge of Spanish (which Portuguese speakers can easily understand) and her limited knowledge of English, it actually turned out really well.
She recommended the one restaurant she said was authentic. I knew very little about Brazil and expected something along the lines of Mexican food.
I was pleasantly surprised and happy to be wrong.
What is there not to love about endless mountains of meat? Top it off with rosemary potatoes and cheesy bread balls and they easily rank in my top five places to eat.
