Peter Capaldi (of the riotously funny and profane In the Loop) has been confirmed as the newest Doctor.

Wow, I didn't expect the Doctor in the modern series to actually age *older* when reconstituting.

That's pretty bold for a modern audience which has been built in no small part off of sex appeal to geeks...

I'd actually watch Doctor Who if he spoke like that the entire time.

Not that I think the show is bad, the few episodes I've seen were certainly watchable...it's just there are so many of them and I'd want to start from the beginning and I don't think I have the time for that. But yeah, I'd watch it if he spoke like that the entire time without bothering with the rest.

I'm quite happy with the choice.

It's a deviation from Matt Smith, who's on the silly side, but I think he'll do a great roll of the Doctor moving forward. Change is good.

Peter Capaldi absolutely blew me away as Frobisher in season three of Torchwood's "Children of Earth". I'm looking forward to his reign as the new Doctor.
