Or, Tournament Didn't Happen, but we Still Wanted to Kill Stuff.
Imagine if you will 2 1500 orc armies vs. 2 1500 Necron armies (controlled by a single player) vs. 2 1500 Imperial Armies (Guard and Space Wolves).
Probably not the wisest idea we ever had to let someone run 3000 points of necrons. Most of their fire went into key imperial targets, especially while I was more concerned with Grouse's charging portion of the orc Horde, but there was fun to be had. The Leman Russ "Orcsterminator" (see picture 1, center) lived up to its name, blowing through a Squad of killer cans, and lots of boyz before Warboss Thraka got ahold of it. This and the Ogryns held up the Orcish advance for a time, but the Necrons to my right were slaughtering my Marine comrades and had managed to frag the Leman Russ Devisator (see picture 2, left, represented by a smoking Crater).
The Tallarn Demolition Squadron (bright yellow, pictures 2 and three) were trying to reach the Necron Tank Rays of Death but were intercepted by the Necron Sniper Caste. (I know neither of these are technical terms, but I can't remember the names for all the Necron stuff yet. It was only after giving them the Demolitions specialty did it occur to me the humor in giving it to desert warriors.
I need to seriously adjust my tactical use of this vehicle to conform with six edition rules. this probably involves snap shooting the plasma sponsons at every opportunity against any target where there is no chance of them going Danger Close, and hoping the God Emperor Of Terra delivers on the deviation.
