So EA has finally done it. They've figured out a way to get the masses to install Origin. Personally, I've avoided it so far, but even I can't resist such a bargain.

Pay what you want. On their own, all these mind-blowing titles would cost about $215, but we're letting you name your price! Pay any price to get soundtracks for The Sims 3 and Battlefield 3. A purchase of $1 or more gets you Origin* keys for all the games, and you can also get Steam keys for Dead Space, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor, and Mirror's Edge! Beat the average to also get The Sims 3, two expansion packs in The Sims 3 Starter Pack, and Battlefield 3.

Currently the price to beat is 4.53 (to get battlefield 3, sims 3, and any future games added, as Humble bundle typically does). Oh, and all the money that would go to Origin/EA is being donated to charity.

What? I don't even.... *purchased*

I don't care if you're only charging me a quarter -- paying you to drag me into the alley and beat me isn't a bargain.

Likewise with Origin/EA.

It boggles my mind that someone can be perfectly fine with Steam and hate Origin when they are the exact same thing. I honestly don't get the blind hatred for EA. I really don't. And I think anyone is a **** moron to not pay $5 and get all of these games...unless they already own them, I guess. Then I can't blame them for not wanting to pay.

Look man, all I'm trying to say is that the sack that is holding all the doorknobs that EA is beating us with is a really pretty sack, this time around. :) Hell, it's worth 5 bucks just for the steam games.

Steam has way more value-add features, and Valve has a way better attitude towards pricing and the community than EA has ever shown.

In addition, supporting Steam is supporting a multi-publisher, indie-friendly industry leader in digital distribution, and supporting Origin is supporting fragmented, first-party-publisher digital distribution platforms.

I choose the option that does not encourage and advocate that every developer eventually has their own specific launcher and user account.

5 bucks for a bunch of stuff I can have on Steam anyway. I don't even want the Origin stuff. ;)

Also, if you don't care about the 2 locked games (only on origin - Battlefield 3 and sims 3) or any future added games, then you only have to pay a buck to get steam keys.

Could all of you making purchases send me your addresses? As I travel around the country, I'll make sure to stop off and beat you with a brick. It may be a while before I can get to anyone specifically, but I guarantee I will eventually get to you.

Beating someone off with a brick sounds painful.

I don't really see any reason not to take this deal. I wasn't really that into getting any of these games, but if they'll give them all to me for that price, yeah I'll install their shitty distro system.

The point behind this deal is for EA to measure how many consumers are either ready to forget or have already forgotten that they're dickwads. That's the reason not to take the deal.

I haven't really bought their games before and I don't really care how big of a dickwad they are though. Besides, I might throw off their numbers :)

I gave $10 to charity and got Mirrors Edge on Steam. Other games? What other games?

Worth it just for Mirror's Edge.

Uh, no. It's a way for them to see how many people want their games but wanted to give them as little as possible. Me paying 50 cents for all of those titles does not in any way mean I'll ever buy in to an EA title at full price because I "forgot they're dickwads."

Two responses:

1) Want to bet?

2) How about a nice game of chess?

I'd much rather play Global Thermonuclear War.

Yes I will certainly bet you that I will never in my life pay full price for an EA title, but if I can **** them by getting five titles for a dollar, I will.

How does that "****" them? These are digital copies right?

Well for starters I just got five of their games for a dollar and zero percent of that went to EA. I'm not screwing them in any meaningful way but I do appreciate that I've got legal copies of their IP's now without having given them anything, and I did it without getting Origin.

I'm gaining hours of entertainment across multiple titles and EA has, quite literally, gained nothing.

Except a tax write-off since the $$$ went to charity. And that write-off is probably at face-value.
