I had a weird "Inception" moment today at lunch.
In my high school years, I hung out with friends a lot at a local '50s-themed diner called Galaxy Diner. We'd sit at the counter, spend dozens of dollars on the jukebox, and rock out. Got lots of dates and phone numbers from being that goofball, as well as positive attention from the staff. In my senior year of high school, I got a job at that diner as the fountaineer (dude who makes all the flavored sodas, milkshakes, and desserts). Galaxy Diner went away in the early 2000s, and I think only one still standing is in
Flagstaff, AZ.
I ate lunch today at a place I've never been before, that had a similar '50s vibe. I realized I was waxing nostalgic for Galaxy Diner while there. I was nostalgic for a diner in the '90s that was geared to invoke nostalgia for folks who spent time in the '50s and '60s.
