Thoughts?

A few "joss" moments, ("Sorry, but that corner was just really dark...") and it was good to see Agent Hill as well, but I assume at least through the end of HIMYM (ie. this season) that she won't be a series regular.

Felt like they went out of their way to tie in with the Marvel Movies. Extremis, Super Soldier Serum, Battle of New York & the Chetari, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk all got mentions. Feels like they spilled the beans about Agent Coulson being a L.M.D. a bit soon.

Also felt like we were doing the typical Joss Whedon lets-cast-actors-I-Know bit. Ron Glass & J. August Richards and I swear that girl who played Sky is, from some angles, a dead ringer for Eliza Dushku.

Life Model Decoy. Effectively an advanced robot that is nigh-indistinguishable from the original person.

It's also something that Nick Fury (and thus, S.H.I.E.L.D. -- god, that's annoying to type) throws around a lot throughout comic history. It has its roots in the wacky Silver Age, when Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. was a thing.

They're basically the same character. Nick Fury just franchises out his supergadgetry... wait a minute.

The adults in the house enjoyed it. 2 out of 3 kids did, but not as much. 1 out of 3 wandered off after 10 minutes.

It was a little too cutesy and *way* too short; characters were given short shrift in favor of the A-plot. It really should have been a two-hour premiere. Whedon works best longform, though, so I've faith that the season will shape up well.

It was so good to see the little Mutant Enemy dude back on TV. "Grrr argh" to you too, my fine fellow.

It's too soon to pass an major judgement. I feel that some of the issues are pilot related and I feel that they can be sorted out.

You say that like it's a -bad- thing.

So...the little artifact that Agent Ward was after in the beginning. Did I hear them say they got it from Longshot?

Marvel's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. by Marvel Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire managed the highest drama debut ratings on all of TV since 2009, (the previous record holder was, inexplicably, ABC's V remake).

Black Widow got a mention too. ("Best espionage skills since Romanov" - paraphrased)

I recognized J. August Richards. And yes, in some respects, the actress playing Sky did resemble Eliza Dushku a little. Similar facial expressions, particularly in the interrogation scene.

And really, I think most long-term Marvel comics fans figured out Coulson was most likely an LMD as soon as they saw the trailer. Unless Joss is just messin' with us...

Nothing against the actress playing Sky. Not everyone can have Eliza Dushku's figure. (I wish I did.)

This show needs a more likable lead guy. He's terrible. (Not Coulson, he's awesome. The other dude.)

Ward isn't bad. He is a reflection of what the writers believe a secret agent acts like.

All of them are still finding their own. I haven't found any of them that stand out (except for Colson and he's kind of already established). However I think they've shown that they have potential for good group dynamic.

Spoiler:
Scene at the end with Fury = awesome.

Why does this show look so damn cheap? Are they actively trying to ape the overly-lit, sitcom-y cinematography of The Avengers? It's downright garish.

The second episode was an improvement on the first, but there's something about the tone that's still rubbing me the wrong way. Maybe it'll even out, but right now even with its more amusing moments, it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I mentioned that to the GF when we were watching episode 2.

So Simmons has his little helicopter thingies right? In the pilot he had 7, and they showed like all of them... in the Second episode, I guess they only had the CGI budget for 1...

He reminds me of Karl Urban in Red.
