I didn't play Skyrim on the PC, only on the console but there was a block button that you pressed and held to block. In Morrowind though you had to right-click with the mouse and move the cursor over the incoming blow to intercept it.

In Skyrim, you couldn't block if you were dual wielding. Not without a 3rd party mod.

I'm fine with a parry/block added to dual wielding.

Oh are we just talking about when you are dual-wielding? My bad lol, I thought it was about blocking in general :)

Yeah, I was saying that you can block whilst dual wielding in ESO, unlike Skyrim. You won't have to drag it over the incoming attack like Morrowind, but you will obviously have to be facing the right way.

Did you play Morrowing on console or PC? I don't remember that mechanic, but it's been quite a while now.

I played Morrowind on the PC...

...for about a total of 10 minutes. I could never get into it, even when it was new.

Morrowind was a transition between the two previous games and the two newer ones, and it had some issues. My issue with it was the slow movement from place to place.

Another factoid - fast travel will be via "wayshrine". How frequently this will appear I'm not sure, but there won't be an insta-teleport to your exact destination.

Morrowind was PC along with Tribunal and Bloodmoon. It was cool to see Skyrim revisit the Bloodmoon island in the expansion.

There was an original XBOX version of Morrowind, so I thought maybe you were referring to that.

Speaking of Morrowind, in the initial game, it will be the rest of the province, not Vvardenfall, that you play in. Vvardenfall is reserved for an expansion. However, they have gone to some effort to keep the style of Morrowind, Cyrrodill, and Skyrim as similar to their respective single player games as possible.

I hope so, Cyrodiil and Morrowind were gorgeous fantastical places. Skyrim... not so much, except the underground.

The problem with Morrowind (and Battlespire, which I also own) was it was not what I was looking for at the time. I was looking for a tradtional western RPG set in a standard foresty area.

I'd always respected the TES games (even played Daggerfall when it first came out, but again not for very long). It wasn't until Oblivion where I really sat up and took notice and dived in fully.

Daggerfall I found to be by far the most frustrating of the games, and is the one I played the least, and the only one I didn't beat the main quest at least once. (Battlespire too, but it's not one of the main sequence games).

I liked Skyrim's look a great deal, but then I have always liked winter settings in fantasy, too.

Morrowind I appreciate a great deal more in retrospect than I did at the time. I felt it was a little weird when it was published, but as it ages, I appreciate how it fits into the larger world. I think it's style will be even more interesting when it's connected to the rest of Tamriel.

Invited for the upcoming weekend event.
Hoping to actually get some play time this time, unlike the way I totally blew it and only ended up with 10 minutes last time.

Glad you guys made it in. I didn't. Evidently AT&T totally **** me for the rest of the beta.

So what are you guys playing, and what are you liking/disliking?

I've mostly been playing a medium armor / sword & shield Dragonknight but just recently decided to go heavy armor for comparison and will probably spend a little bit of time with dual wield before the event ends.

Its Elder Scrolls... but an MMO.

Not a fan so far. But then, I'm not a fan of TES anyway. Maybe its better with a controller, but the default control scheme is action RPG, not MMO. Its too twitch for me.

I'm trying out Nightblade, spending a little on every weapon type, bu mainly 2H and bow.

This game is NOT twitch-based.

Yeah it is.

If I don't shoot the arrow in the right place, it doesn't hit. Its based on player skill, not character skill. That's the very definition of twitch based.

That being said, its probably better with a controller rather than mouse and KB. I really dislike the perma mouselook. Its one of the reasons I initially didn't like Neverwinter. But at least there, you didn't have to aim.

Upon further review, this is not for me.

No, it's not, and in any case, you don't have to shoot the arrow in the right place to hit. There's a soft lock. Twitch base means "twitch" i.e. reaction speed. This game is much slower speed.

You have to aim considerably less here than you do in Skyrim.

Well, I was unable to log in at all on Friday night. I was either stuck at the "Requesting Character Load" page, or I would get a message that the "Login Server Failed," or it would tell me that the Server was full. Played a little bit Saturday, and a little bit Sunday.

Graphics are good. Environments are really cool. Music is amazing. I love the fact that they got Michael Gambon (Dumbledore!!!) to do the voice for the Prophet. I LOL'ed at the Text-to-speech voice overs for the other areas, though. Obviously, this will be fixed in the final version, but it was still kinda funny.

Tried out all the classes, except Sorcerer. Wasn't impressed with Nightblade. Only got to level 3, but didn't care for either Bows or Daggers. Obviously, I didn't give them too much time, but my initial impression was not that great. Dragon Knight was kinda cool. Got one of those to level 3 or 4. The one I had the most fun with was the Templar. Running around with a big Two-Hander, dispensing some fiery justice! Fun times.

The only issue I had, after the initial problems friday night, was that I logged out of my Templar, to create and try out a Dragon Knight. And after that, I was unable to log back into my Templar. The application would crash every time it tried to load the zone. Kinda sucks, because I was really having fun with that character.

Anyway, initial impressions were good. Despite all the issues I had. I know this is Beta, so I'm confident they will get these issues worked out. Looking forward to the final release, as I will definitely be picking this one up.
