I assume you mean this from Verge?

Quote:
For starters, passing my TiVo through the Xbox One darkened the picture and stripped the signal of its Dolby Digital audio encoding, taking away surround sound. There’s a beta option to transcode Dolby into DTS or PCM audio, but it didn’t seem to work for me, and Microsoft says it might cause additional video distortion with some cable boxes until it’s out of beta. If you have a home theater system, this is an immediate deal breaker; I wouldn’t let the Xbox One near your cable box until it can pass the signal unmolested.

Yes that's what I was referring to with the Verge review. The IGN video I just posted because it was available; the unflattering part was pretty much anything voice-related.

Hey, IGN guy. Learn that xboxI'mtalkingreallyfast isn't optimal. You wouldn't have to repeat commands as often. Sheesh.

Gizmodo's video, on the other hand, impressed me with the speech recognition. Not in a position to watch the IGN one right now, but Müs' comment suggests there might be a bit of a user training issue going on. (By which I mean something the user can acclimatize to and correct, not that there's any formal training offered)

That'd bum me out if I didn't just use the TV speakers too. I guess I'd prolly just bypass Xbox for the theater audio if it was me.

I don't want to seem like I'm coming off too harshly on the Xbone; in a perfect world it seems like my console of choice. I see the potential but I'm probably going to wait and see if it becomes realized.

Oh, by the way. I'm coining this ****, here and now. We'll see if it has reason to take off.

DisKinect: (v) 1. to disable or unplug the Kinect 2 from one's X-Box One console. e.g., I got tired of my jackass roommate **** with my multiplayer Call of Duty matches, so I disKinected. (n) 1. the act of disconnecting the Kinect 2 from one's X-Box One console. e.g., The Microsoft is listening to me have sex on my couch? ****, I better go home and do a disKinect after work tonight! 2. the state of having disconnected the Kinect 2 from one's X-Box One console. I don't have to worry about whether the NSA is taking Microsoft to court in secret because of "National Security." DisKinect is blissful.

Yeah the Micro Machine Man gave the xbox a similarly poor review.

Watching somebody's livestream of the Massachusetts location of the Killer Instinct Ultra Fighter Tournament.

Can't wait.

Mine shipped from Amazon and arrives today. Guess I will pick up BF4 on my way home so I have something to play.

Ditto, except for the Battlefield part. I'll be downloading Killer Instinct (and maybe Ryse or something, which I didn't expect to care about, but is reviewing well)...

Ryse is getting mediocre reviews which is disappointing as it's only clocking in around 5 hours. You can't really fail the QTE's and the bosses are extremely repetitive.

Yeah, I mistyped. I should've said "better than I expected" and is widely held to be, along with Forza, the most visually impressive game on the system.

Have my second MS tech support rep on the phone now. Been trying to fix it for about 1.5 hours now.

Can you not just download the update and apply through USB?

Got home late lady night around 1am. Was up till 5 lol. I don't know what people's problems with the voice commands are, I think I had to repeat myself twice and was just using a conversational tone of voice.

A third of the way through dojo training, which is pretty sweet.

Not officially you cannot.

Appears mine is bricked. Green Screen of Death.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Hop. How's the RMA procedure working out?

Killer Instinct is a killer app. There are a few minor disappointments (I'd love to get an introduction to some of the special qualities of other characters' normal attacks as detailed as the Dojo is for Jago, for instance), there are a few things where you go "How can they have overlooked that!?" (like the fact that, while you can have both players signed in during a local match, only Player 1 earns the KP currency used to buy unlocks), and then the small roster will, of course, grow stale over time...

But it's a rock solid foundation that is both exciting to watch masters at work on and approachable for the casual player to quickly start *feeling* like a rock star as he busts down his personal combo record in a live game.

So far, I've got a 53-hit Ultra Combo with Jago as my best Ultra, and I think I almost broke 40% with a non-ultra Orchid combo.

Microsoft support sucked, after two days of run around in chat and on the phone I finally just talked to Amazon who agreed to ship me a new unit (arriving Tuesday) within 5 minutes. They also told me to just keep the Day One Controller.

What the hell, EA? And what the hell, Microsoft!?

How the **** do you pass a game that requires an Origin account sign-in through your **** validation processes?

Need for Speed Rivals is fun, and all, but if I had known that ****, I would have included it in my boycott. This had better not fly long-term, Microsoft.
